Default Checking spare Tire Pressure

Is there a way to check the spare tire pressure without taking it completely off the car? My low pressure warining light is on and it must be the spare tire (other four are right on the dime at 30 PSI). I openned the spare tire cover plate and did not see the tire stem anywhere.

It would be a stupid design if the consumers have to take several involved steps just to check the pressure of the spre tire. Please show me a better way to do it.

If I recall, the spare tires mounts with the rim face upward, so the valve stem would actually be pointed and positioned on the side up against the cars underbody. Unless you can reach between the rim face spokes you will have to lower the spare tire to gain access to the valve stem.

One of the many reasons why I have my tires filled with Nitrogen - no need to check tire pressures! Not sure how this would work with the Tps system though (we don't get that here in Oz)

This is one of the primary reasons for the tire pressure sensor system. Your spare has one as well. Should your pressure drop, the sensor will trigger. Then it's a matter of identifying the offending tire.

Nitrogen is fantastic. Normally, when I use to use air before nitrogen became available down here, I was losing about 1 psi a month.

My spare is not part of the rotation, so I make a specific request to check spare pressure on every service. [Rx300 has much easier access to the spare .. fold away carpet, lift the panel, hook it up on the drain gutter and if you have pre-positioned the wheel, the valve is right there].

I only loose 1psi in more than six months [my gauge monitors in 0.5psi increments]

Any ME out there .... if the on a installed tire, one should have 32psi [lets not argue about the number], the how much psi should be on an unmounted spare? May be some day I will measure pressure and then jackup and mesure pressure again ...
