My MPG is LOW

I am just wondering if its the 95 octane that causes your low mileage. Have you try 91? How much do you idle? What is the average length of your trips?

thats what i thought too. will fill up with 91octane and also check the idle rpm.
since i live in downtown, avg length is about 10-15mins. weekends its about 1.5hrs highway.

Burning more octane than your car is design for will actually decrease mileage. Of course you know that short trips and idle time will bring the MPG numbers way down fast. So considering those factors, your mileage seems about right.

Thats poor MPG
I've put about 10.5k (yes thats alot) on my 08 RX350 and think it would be pretty tough to get 17 mpg.
I usually get a low of 21mpg and high of 26mpg. I check mpg every time I fill up.
- 91 Octane
- Chevron/Mobile/Shell station
- Southern California
- 40city/60highway
And yes, I often drive fast.

Try this. On week end zero out the the mpg and check what you get.
In UAE dont you use Imperial Gallon {British gallon which is more in volume}? I always wondered how Lexus vehicle's computer adjusted display for that? [Without adjustment the mpg number should get better ... counter to this thread, but still I would like to learn]
