I should have been a bit clearer, I meant that the fuel economy data resets at fill up, this would be on the nav screen not the odometer, sorry for confusion. I will fill up today or tomorrow and report the number it shows for range.

I think the fuel door switch is the trigger for re-set. I will try to find out tonight.

The highest our 04 RX330 used to show was 39X cruising range. Of course, it never really reached that amount, and more typically we would fill up with about 33X miles on the trip meter with about 15-16 gallons of gas and the crusing range showed about 20-30 miles to go. That was before E10 was mandated by the state though. After that gas mileage went down a lot. Easily lost about 2-3 MPG.

I probably should have mentioned that I live close to the border of where E10 is required. If I drive a few miles west to fill up I get real gasoline with no Ethanol. I get 1-2 MPG more using real gas. Typically I get around 375 miles on 15 gallons of real gas on the freeway. Since I have a 19.2 gallon tank That would put my driving range at about 475 miles if I cared to stretch it. I really don't want to run my tank that low. I usually start looking for a Top Tier station when I get below 1/4 tank remaining.
The computer seems a bit conservative when it calculates the driving range. In my particular case it appears to be using around 21 MPG for it's calculations of range. (343 / 16.2 gallons = 21.1 MPG) assuming it doesn't count a 3 gallon reserve as the tank holds 19.2 gallons. The initial value used in calculating driving range might be an average of the last couple of tanks. I'd be interested in knowing exactly how this calculation is initially performed and how it updates as you drive. Anyone have a source? It is not too accurate but serves it's purpose I guess. I have seen the driving range show 0 miles remaining and still had around 3.5 gallons left in the tank so I assume it doesn't use the reserve capacity in it's calculation.

I filled up last night, the range showed 352 miles.
Before I filled up I noted that the vehicle had traveled 283 miles and the computer displayed range of 81 miles. The average by the computer was 21.7 this is combined driving or highway and city which is about 50-50. Using the old fashion way of calculating the mileage it would be:
283 miles/13.75 gal = 20.58 mpg![Uhh...](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/1387914497.gif)
I use Chevron premium fuel, but being in Houston it is mixed with ethynol up to 10%. When I first got the RX I used regular and the mpg was around 18-19 same driving conditions. When I switched to premium the mpg started going up but it may have been a coincident.
Currently I have around 2300 miles on the RX.
Hope this helps.

I don't think my cruising range ever went beyond 300. I've had only about 800 miles, and so far my mpg is between 19-20. Not great but definitely within expectation when I first bought the vehicle.

Filled ours up this weekend for a trip to Wenatchee from the coast, saw 343 as a cruise range. Pulled right at 24 MPG on the trip, and filled up prior to coming back to the coast, cruise range showed 375. Pretty typical for this type of trip (we do it about every two weeks).
