Hey, Nothing wrong with changing it at 15-25K, I'm just saying take a look at the filter at 10K and decide for yourself.

Thanks for the advise on how often (or when) to change the filter. I live in Houston, Texas and the air quality is probably not the best so I will check it at 10k, which should be when the vehicle is a year old. As I understand it, the change out is not too difficult, maybe less than a day to do for us mechanically "challenged" people . I use the 3M Filtcrete filters in my home and have been impressed so I hope these are just as good.
Besides, it makes me feel good to know that my little old RX is cleaning the air a little at a time, maybe if everybody put huge HEPA filters on top of their cars and drove around we could clean up all the air , think about that !

Replacing it is easy, and it's even described in the owner's manual. It should take no longer than 15 minutes to replace the filter. The hardest thing about the job, which isn't hard at all, is releasing the glove compartment pins. After I turned the pins to the release position, I had to take a small screwdriver and pry the pins in toward the inside of the glove box in order for the pins to be retracted far enough for the glove box to swivel down. So my pins are tight, but maybe others are lose.

Hot of the press!...
Just spoke to 3M...the guy said they currently don't have a filter for the RX330. But, they are working on adding it to the website. This promotion will continue for a while....$14.95! Wohoo!
He said keep checking the website...more vehicle models will be added!!

Thanks, Lex. Anyone have any suggestions for the RX330 other than the OEM filter? Picked up one from Sewell that needs to be installed in a few weeks and will be looking to stock up. Hurry up 3M.

Well,
I bought 5 more of the filters for a total of 10, almost a lifetime supply. Reason being that I drive a Prius, the wife drives the RX and my mother drives a 4runner. So we go through filters like water. Plus I needed some new microfiber towels when I wax the car, so it all evened out.
I wouldn't put much hope in them making a filter for the RX330 unless the filter is a popular model used by many cars. Maybe 3M will ramp up production and start making them for every car like MicronAir does.

OK, here is the definitive word! NOT!
According to Bosch, the 2005 Lexus RX330 and the 2005 Toyota Highlander with V6 both take their 3755 Cabin Filter. Good match, right.
According to Purolator, the 2005 Lexus RX330 takes their 35549 cabin filter and the 2005 Toyota Highlander with V6 takes their 38222 cabin filter. Now I am confused.
I am pretty certain that Advance Auto sells these so I will head off to their store and ask for one of each to see if they are the same.

Need to get back Advance/Discount Auto for a look. Nothing at Auto Zone that I saw. Will be downtown tomorrow and will try to have a look to see what is on the shelf.

Pep Boys and Advance Auto both carry the Purolator (C35549), however, it is special order at both locations with Advance Auto being the cheaper of the two at around $19 plus tax.
NAPA has their own brand made by WIX which looks much like the OEM and perhaps better than the Purolator. Cost is $27 plus tax.
When one figures the cost of ordering the OEM from Sewell less the discount and plus shipping vs. buying a third-party plus local tax it is pretty much a wash.
FWIW, I ordered a couple of WIX brand from RockAuto.com which with shipping to the office came out only a few bucks cheaper than Sewell. However, had I needed anything else from Sewell I would have gotten them there.
Hope this helps.

I received the three filters I ordered yesterday. I have not installed any yet as my RX only has 4000 miles on it. I did open one of the boxes and it came with "goodies", a micro cloth, a glass cleaning cloth, and a lint roller thingy.
Seems like a good deal to me.
