Default I'm sorry I took Premium Audio over Mark Levinson

Traded in my 2004 RX-330 for a 2008 350. My 330 had the ML system but the package I preferred in the 350 only had the Premium sound system - couldn't make much difference, right? Wrong!

I can't believe how bad the Premium system sounds. Honky midrange and a treble that makes drum cymbals sound like scratching sandpaper.

Would upgrading the speakers help, or is it the amplifier?

I can't speak specifically for the RX, but upgrading the OEM premium speakers in other Lexus models can make a big difference. Amp will be helpful depending on what speakers you choose (and especially if you decide to put in a subwoofer that requires more power)

upgrading speakers, amp and possibly a stereo will make a big difference. Good luck!

our RX is equipped with Premium Audio, and not ML. IMHO Premium is a great sounding system, and unless you're into cometition audio, no need to upgrade. I actually like it better than my Acura TL's lame EL-S

The Premium Audio sounds just fine for me. Then again, it's all a matter of personal preference. Just like in home theater, I would much prefer PCM uncompressed audio over Dolby Digital.

I agree, the ML does not sound much better than the premium, not worth the money. I would go with the aftermarket products, you will get more for your money.

I believe that the ELS setup is far more superior than the ML system. But it's not about competition audio, but having balance audio system that can be customized for individual taste. But if all you care about is how deep sounding your music is, then Premium Audio system will be the best choice for you.

My brother's 2G MDX has the ELS system. I've used it many times and can clearly hear the differences. The MDX is a BIG car compare to the RX, but there's no denying the sound quality.

Has the premium system changed much from 2004, as in my RX330, and your 2008 RX350? I find the premium system in my RX to be quite good and any issues I have with sound quality can be attributed to outside noise intrusion.

Further evidence of Lexus quality on the decline?

I too agree with you. One of my good friend has a TL-S and the ELS sound system blows away both sound system in my '06 ES330 and my dads '07 ES350. Neither have Mark Levinson though.

It definately has changed. My 2006 ES330's sound system is much much better than my dads ES350. Neither have ML. The odd thing though is that playing CD's sounds better in my dads ES350.

Default Can you get the Mark Levinson Audio Package on the 08 RX350

I'm trying to buy an 08 RX350 and would like the Mark Levinson upgraded audio system. My dealer tells me that it is not available on the new 08's. Is this true? The main Lexus website "brochure" lists the Navigation system/Mark Levinson Package, but when I "build my Lexus", it doesn't list the upgraded audio as an option. I can still choose the navigation package, but it appears to just have the factory audio with the 8 speakers.

Any thoughts? I really like a good audio system in my vehicles, so I am leary of the standard issue. Thanks!

I believe ML is only available......... if u take the Rear seat entertainment pkg too from 2008 model onwards!

I am not impressed with Standard audio system of 08 RX......... there is no option to tweak at all....

just three bars for bass/midrange/treble . and move the sound to front/rear ............ left/right !

is there anything else i am missing out.........i havent had time to dive into the manual a lot!

Default The rear entertainment system isn't an option

When I try to add options, I can add the DVD navigation system/blue tooth luxury pkg, but the rear seat entertainment system is not an option. Am I missing something. I live in Alaska...do they not add the entertainment system? Maybe it doesn't operate well in cold weather?

Thanks for your help.
