Default Greetings from Japan

Hey everyone.

I just thought I would give a quick intro. Ive been lurking the site for a while, looking for info on the USDM RX, in preparation to buy a JDM Harrier. Well, my wife and I ordered a 2008 Harrier 240G with Premium L package in Dark Blue Mica on Black leather a couple weeks ago, and are expecting it to arrive in the next couple weeks. I know for all of you USDM drivers, the 240 probably sounds really lame, but in the end, with all of the taxes associated with engine size, we felt that we didnt really need the 350.

So about me...Im actually a Japanese/Canadian living in Japan. I currently am a teacher at a Private International School, but I plan to open my own private school in the near future. I also export car parts to North America on my free time, so if you have any requests for parts, shout me a PM and Ill see what I can do. The other car in the driveway is my 1997 BMW Z3 roadster (hence the name), that is my daily driver. Im actually planning on selling the Z3 and start using public transit again, while building up a project MR2 turbo, but well see what happens. Anyways, I thought I would just say hello, and thanks to all of you have helped me with your informative posts.

Cheers

Welcome to the forum. It is always nice to have members from Japan on the site. Hopefully we can squeeze some good info about up and coming new Lexus cars coming out of Japan Post up some pics of your MR-2 Turbo project. I always liked that car.

Default Welcome

Congratulations on your new vehicle. Curious about one thing, will it be made in Japan or Canada? Most (if not all) the 2008 over here are made in Canada so it got my brain thinking (which in most cases is a dangerous thing).

Again, welcome to the forum, there is much information to learn here with many questions answered for us mechanically challeged folks.

As I think a little more it would make no sense to build it in Canada as the steering wheel would be on the wrong side, wouldn't it?

Welcome to the Club.

We have had some 240 owners here in the forum. I met a few 240 owners on a trip this past March in Jamaica. Also would be interested in hearing more about your MR2 project.

Hi Ron, my 2007 Crystal White RX350 is made in Japan with VIN starting with J. Inspire (member of club lexus) which is my friend just got his 2008 RX350 in black color and it was also made in Japan with VIN starts with J. So, RXs are still coming from Japan as well as Canada.

First a warm welcome.

It would be a huge favor if you could keep us in CL abreast with after market parts and options for harrier, as you look through various local magazines. Here in USA we really don't know what is available. Once in while some one runs across an add, but then again language becomes a barrier.

Thanks for the information, I was under the impression that all 2008 are made in Canada except for the 400h when I bought my 2008.

I bought my car in Southern California and the dealer informed me that most of the Japanese built RX are sold predominantly on the west coast (Port of entry is Long Beach/Los Angeles) and the RX400H is built at the Japaneses plant only.

So I had a choice to go for Japanes or Canada built vehicle and chose the Japanese RX .

It showed port of entry as Long Beach,CA

That makes sense. We are located in Seattle, WA. However, they did not have the one that I want so they brought it up from Portland, OR.

Thanks for the warm welcomes everyone! As for the MR2, I am still in the process of selling my Z3 so I havent even purchased the MR2 yet. Hopefully, if all goes well, I should have a good beater in my possesion sometime next month.

As for the manufacturing country of my car, I beleive it will be Japan. There are so many plants in Japan pumping out Toyotas, that it would be hard to imagine the sense in importing one from an overseas plant.

Ill try to keep you up to date on mods for the RX, and if you have any requests, please let me know, and Ill try to help you out.

All RX's and in fact all Lexus cars in Hawaii come from Japan I believe. Probably because Servco is the importer of Lexus cars in Hawaii and deals direct with Lexus of Japan (Or Toyota at one point) and has nothing to do with Lexus of America.

I have a 2008 Brandy Wine RX350. I was told that color is only made in Japan. It came in to Long Beach to Lexus of Riverside, then trucked up here to Oregon.
