Unfortunately, the likelihood of springing a leak is more with fresh fluid (newer -> usually thinner/free-flowing) and the disturbance of crud .. unintended accidents/forgetfulness etc. Your concern about fluid getting thick and developing higher pressure is valid too.

One has to keep an eye on any fluid that is changed.

Note: I am not recommending that fluids should not be changed, but a sharp eye should be kept.

I would have it checked out for peace of mind.....They can drop the pan and take a quick look!!!

I would keep on driving with current transmission but would purchase AAA membership in case it'll need to be towed. The original factory tranny may be far more reliable than anything rebuilt, salvaged, or brand new one as a replacement. That, or sell the damn thing while it still runs.
