I have an 04 RX330 that my GF was driving earlier today and all of a sudden the car stopped moving while it was going down the road. She pulled over and then noticed alot of fluids underneath the car. The car doesnt move when place into any gears right now. The car had gotten towed home and I checked the transmission fluid and found it to be completely empty. Ive checked underneath the car and noticed alot of fluids being leaked there however I really didnt see any punctures. Has anyone had a similar problem? Im assuming that its gotta be either a bad seal or something. Car is out of warranty. 04 with 85,000 miles. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

There is a cork-like substance that is a gasket on the between the pan and the bottom of the transmission. In addition, there is a sealant between the engine block and the tranny, those are the two likely culprits.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I went off and looked at it last night and found that the line going from the place where you fill up the transmission fluid that I'm assuming runs down into the tranny somehow got disconnected. It appears to have been a clamp that was suppose to hold the rubber hose to the plastic one must have gotten loose. I guess probably from it getting really hot. Don't now how something like this would happen. Guess over time and normal wear and tear. I reconnected it back on and purchased a new clamp that is now held in from a screw. Reconnected it and filled it back up with tranny fluid. Placed her back into gear and it was moving again!!!
Needless to say, I will be bringing her in to have the transmission fluid flushed just to be on the safe side! Good thing it wasn't a bad tranny! For anyone that may run into this, make sure to check the line!

While you may have solved the immediate problem and now have an operable car, I would definetly take it to Lexus for an inspection. From what I know of modern transmissions, they don't tolerate loss of fluid real well. It might be worth the effort to have someone at Lexus tell you whether or not your trans is in good shape. In addition, if they sergviced the trans, then I would start there with why the clamp was left off.
just a thought.
