Mud Guards on my RX350?
I have been thinking about adding mud guards to my RX and was wondering if they were worth it. I live in New England and the Salt is a concern with winter coming up. Does anyone know what they go for at the dealer? Installed or not. I can do the install myself if they want too much to do it for me. I have seen them on Ebay for $99. Can any one tell me the pros and cons of having them? Do they cause any drag or effect MPG at all?
Thanks,

I have them on mine. Sort of a signature thing on all my vehicles . They aren't that big that they would cause any appreciable drag. I removed the roof rack cross bars so consider it a wash that way. They do a bit of good to keep some of the muck off the body, but the wheels are quite far from the body, so it really isn't that much of a help. It snowed here this morning and I haven't looked at the effect of them yet. Consider them more cosmetic that anything.
Price was free on delivery, but check with Luis at Sewel for a deal.

Out of Warranty
Since changing to Bridgestones with a marginally wider carcass profile, I've noticed I'm slinging more road gunk up onto the body panels. My RX 300 had the mud guards when delivered and they were a little help - now my RX 330 might need them.
They don't really look too bad (they're not, after all, mud flaps like you would see on a truck . . . or some older Volvos), but if they are functional and protect that expensive paint, why not? If you do a search on this forum, you'll probably find a thread (with pictures) that explains more and demonstrates the DIY installation.

I have Lexus branded mud flaps on my '05 330 and I like them a lot. They are small enough to be unobtrusive and the installation takes less than an hour for all four. I really can't imagine any downside to installing them. Loss of mileage or increased drag? I would assume that the loss is so insignificant as to be unimportant.
I live in Pittsburgh and they definetly keep the dirt and snow down. I would only buy them from eBay if they are guaranteed to fit your car perfectly. On mine, the fit and finish is Lexus like.

Go with OEM, comes with directions for install! Great fit, too.

Mud Flaps
I have a set of OEM Lexus 350 black mud flaps. I bought them when I first got my 350. But its so dry where I am at. I never installed them. If you can use them. Email me at
