Default RX330--Cold start and hard/clicking idle

It has been about 30 degrees the past couple of mornings. The vehcicle starts fine (new battery after previous discussion/thread on old batteries) but I can hear the unusual idle of my RX--it sounds like a clicking noise. Today (28 degrees) it made the sound all the way to work, about 8 miles. The sound is more noticable inside the car. Anyone have this same sound on a cold start?

(will pay attention to the RPMs at start thanks to thread below)

I've been told that it's the fuel injectors making the clicking noise.

If the ticking sound goes away after the engine is warm up, then its normal according to Lexus.

Yep, go into the dealership and tell them you want TSB EG005-05 performed:

"Some customers with 2004 – 2005 model year RX 330 vehicles may complain of a“ticking” noise from the engine compartment when the engine is idling. Updated fuel main tube and fuel tube clamps are now available."

FWIW

I was told that the repair could hurt mileage and performance a little.

What exactly do they do to repair it? Is it a ECM re-program map? If so, once they re-program it, they cant reverse it if you dont like the result.

I think it's a new intake runner, but maybe someone else can verify that.

Double that, me too. Wonder if it actually does effect mpg and performance like grouch said.

Hope it all works out with no side effect!

Let's see if the dealer will still honor this TSTB. Thanks for the post.
