Default Disabling the audible seatbelt reminder?

Is it possible to permanently disable the audible seatbelt reminder alert? If yes, how? Thanks.

Here is the instruction for reseting seat belt buzzers;

1. Turn the ignition switch to ON position
2. Press the ODO/Trip switch until the odometer display "ODO"
3. Turn the ignition switch off.
4. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
5. Press the ODO/Trip switch immediately (within 6 seconds) and hold it down for 10 seconds or more.
6. Continue holding down the ODO/trip switch and fasten the driver side seat belt.
7. Check that the odometer display either "b-on" or "b-off".
8. Press the ODO/Trip switch to change the display to "b-off".
9. Turn ignition switch off.
10. You are done.

Why not just wear your seatbelts? In 17 years as a EMT and paramedic, I unbuckled exactly three patients, and two of those were uninjured but scared.

My RX "seat belt reminder" is only a backup. My primary warning system is usually to be found in the right seat. Consequently I don't get out of the driveway without my seatbelt securely fastened. Maybe I'm just cheap. I paid for all of these airbags, crush zones, seatbelt pretensioners, etc, I'll be hanged if I ignore them now.

When I got out of the hospital after surgery a few years ago, I was not allowed to drive for a couple of months - the doctors fearing an air bag deployment would open up my chest rather quickly and painfully. My wife had to drive the RX (300, then) wherever I had to go. Being chauffeured is not a bad experience, but having my wife throw a hand across my chest when she made a sudden stop was a little disconcerting. Mothers are very protective of their children, and I discovered they are very difficult to re-program - even after all these years.

[QUOTE=Lil4X;3117603] throw a hand across my chest when she made a sudden stop QUOTE]

I am sure what I am about to say is in poor taste but that was what I did thirty years ago in my beat up Capri.... I still remember the pretend slap on my face.... so sweet.

KeysRX300, the information I got is from this forums. I can't remember exactly where but when I got the info, I store it in my blackberry so I can share it with all of you when need. I do have info for
1. Reset the maintainance light
2. One touch sunroof operation.

Let's me know if you need them.

Thumbs up

These steps to disable the seatbelt chime worked like a charm. No more sporadic, irritating chimes. Thank you.

Mine goes out automatically when I buckle up! Oth, don't wear it and let chance and Darwin's theory prove itself out.

Seriously, after a VERY serious accident the day before I got married (and spent the next three weeks in the hospital) I am an advocate for seatbelts. Can't imagine the logic (or lack of) for not wearing one. I once had a neighbor who said "I had a friend who got thrown out of a car and all those who stayed in, burned up." My retort? I read of a guy who fell out of an airpane at 10,000 without a parachute and, through fate, karma, or good luck, somehow managed to survive. Don't think I want to try and do that myself.

Ok, off my soapbox.

I'm for seat belts too, and use it every time i drive, but i don't need to be annoyed with a beep every time i start the car.
