Has anyone found the secret to forcing the subject button to remember where it was before the car was shut off?
I do not use outside air unless absolutely necessary, so I keep that button set to the recirculated position. When I start the car, the button always reverts to the outside air position.
Thanks

Owners manual should illustrate how to keep recirculate on instead of defaulting to fresh air mode.
The reason why fresh defaults is so that your vents stay open and eliminate bacteria growth when your car sits idle overnight. That way you reduce the chances of that dreaded musty smell when you use your A/C or heater from time to time.

flipside ....
Thanks for the quick reply.
Having been a writer of user guides in one of my past lives, I'd naturally go to the manual first to find out how to solve this little problem.
I did a search on "recircul" (without the quotes) in the PDF version of the manual. Most of the hits dealt with what happens when the HVAC system is set to, or reverts to, Automatic mode; a mode which offers very little human control. Other than that, the manual describes it as a simple On/Off button.
BTW ...
I set the system to recirculate because I can't stand the smell of exhaust fumes. I've never experienced that musty smell in either of my Lexuses, although I have in other cars.

I remember there was a way to default the recirculate mode. I'm gonna have to dig for the sequence.
