Default Removing side mirror - Need Help!

I need to remove a RH side mirror on my 2004 RX. Does anybody have instructions or knows how to do that?

Thanks a lot.

I may be wrong, but I honestly don't think that question's been asked before. A lot of us are searching and scratching our heads - hang in there, somebody's had that door panel off and can tell us! . . . Right guys?

It came up before, but it seems no one has done it.

If you dont have the service manual, other solution that has worked for me is to get a copy of the page from the parts department. It lacks the procedure, but shows all the components. It may even come in handy when you ask for replacement part.

It would be nice if you can tell what you are trying to do? Removing the mirror or the mirror cover requires you to remove the side door panel which has lot of plastic parts ,armrest cover, power window regulator and disconnect the wiring to the mirror not to mention the connections to the power mirror motor & the heating element for the mirror.

You need a SPX tool like shown below to remove the door panel otherwise you will see visible damages on the door panel. Also you need to careful with weather strip that will prevent rain water coming inside.

You also need a special tool , otherwise the mirror might break and it will cost you money.

You need to be careful, I tried this for installing the LED mirrors and then went with a professional install at a toyota dealer.

I trashed the whole housing and therefore I bought the whole assembly (used) which is due to arrive tomorrow.
Are you sure I would need to remove the whole panel?

You need to unplug the wire harness.

If it is the whole housing you have to remove the armrest cover, side door panel ,power window regulator and disconnect the wiring to the mirror not to mention the connections to the power mirror motor & the heating element for the mirror because wiring harness connectors for the mirror are inside the door panel along with power window regulator

Also make sure the power mirrors/mirror heaters are working.

I had them earlier when the LED mirror cover was installed. Not anymore. Just had one screen shot and it is posted above. But it will take atlease 2 to 4 hours depending on your isntallation skills. I went with the installer at a toyota dealer. For 2 LED mirror covers including re doing the whole wiring was around $180

In your case it may be less because there is no rewiring needed. Just disconnect the old one and reconnect the new one.

thanks a lot.
I'll try to remove the panel, but in the worst case I'll just cut the wires where the 3 bolts are and then reconnect the new unit.
