Like every now and then. Maybe every other day.

Ever get it checked out, sounds like a leak or something partially dirty, might be a gas cap out of wack.

Default RX2002 model

Hi all

Am quite new to this forum and been following this thread. I have a 2002 RX300 and noticed the VSC & check engine light comin on recently. I will be taking it to the local auto guy to get the code read. I have a question. I have the extended warranty on my vehicle. Any idea whether the warranty will cover the O2/AF sensor? Just checking. And also normally does the extended warranty also cover the labor?
Thanks

Yes, I think your waranty will cover the sensors, both parts and labor.

Hi all. First visit here. The check engine light went on on my 97 SC300 today. Thanks to the info here, I'll go have a free read at AZ. Hope I'll get some help here once I have the codes.

Hi all

I checked with my friend and found that O2 sensor needs to be replaced. Since my vehicle is under warranty, I decided to leave it with our local Lexus service center. Let me wait and see what they say.

If you can afford to go to the lexus dealer, that is probably the best place to go,after all, they should know your RX best.

After the light went on, I filled up my gas tank on my way home. The next day, 10 minutes into my morning drive, the light went off. I guess I got to remember to put the tank cap back on properly. Thanks folks for the info here.

I'm new to this club also. I have a 2002 RX300 and my CEL and VSC light went off right after the vehicle had an oil change, filter service and 75,000 check. I drove the vehicle for about a day and the lights went off. Now, several weeks later, the lights are back on. I'm going back to the place that serviced my vehicle to have them recheck it. What should I expect? What should I be cautious of? This is the first thing that has gone amiss with my Lexus. Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the Club.

Just have them run the OBD2 scanner and let you know what codes show up and then let us know what they were.

My check engine & VSC sensors have been coming on and off for the past 3 days since my hubbie put something called Lucas (fule cleaner?) in the gas tank! He says it not related and it's a coincidence. This morning he said he had problems with the gears shifted. But I have drove it after that with no problems. I had my transmission replaced a year ago under warranty. Any ideas?

Have him get the codes checked. AutoZone offers this service for free and if he brings me the codes I will be happy to help you diagnose them.

greetings! im new here. i too had the cel light and vsc light come on. had autozone read codes. read 2 codes the same p0136- aft o2 sensor bank one sensor 2. they said no big deal, after the cat o2 sensor. told me to add some injector cleaner, take the sensor out wire brush it, disconnect negative battery cable for 15 minutes then re-connect and see what happens. i have done this. the cel light is out since the reset, but the vsc light is back on by itself ???? i returned to autozone and they said the p0136 code is still in there.. perhaps the sensor is still throwing that code? probably should just cough up the bucks and replace the aft o2 sensor?

thanks for the help.. glad i found this forum...

rx 300 2003 runs just fine. i bought it used about 6 months ago. i am very pleased with the vehicle. the closest dealership is just north of pittsburg. they have been great but this is 100 miles from me. i would like to solve the small stuff locally when possible. i am planning a timing belt replacement with the dealer this summer, that is one job i will NOT tackle myself.
