They have mounts for almost all vehicles. They are a bit pricey but work real nice. The one I found for the RX clips onto the center left vent. <snip>.

Nice thing about a Garmin or other portable GPS is that you can use it in other vehicles. Also it has no restrictions like the factory nav does.
Thanks, appreciate the information, just what I needed!

I have a friction mount for my Garmin nuvi, it work great and its only $28. I just bought a GS350 AWD with the factory nav. I use to think that the Garmin is the way to go, I can take it from car to car and all that but the factory unit is so much easier to follow and the detail is amazing.

Deferring back to the original question, I will add my $.02.
When we went shopping, we specifically looked for a used RX330. The deal my wife found was a very good one. Her 2004 Breakwater Blue AWD was $3k less at CarMax than Lexus of Austin was asking for the 2 two wheel drive models on their lot in North Austin. This car is essentially flawless. It (allegedly) was a lease in Wisconsin before arriving here in Austin. As far as I can tell, there is no salt damage to the underbody. There are some chips in the front and on the plastic door trim from use, but nothing that was a real show-stopper. I can touch up the chips.
So far, its been a great car. The price made the deal even sweeter.
Buy used..
I've talked to several Lexus owners and they agree.

We bought an '05 CPO with $34K miles, one owner, full docs and records and REGULAR scheduled maintenance. The price difference between the CPO and the NEW '08 RX350 with the SAME options was 7.5K including taxes, title and registration (CA is 7.75%). If the price difference in the cars were $5K then we would have bought the new '08 RX350. Our pricing was based on $1K BELOW DEALER INVOICE. I just made the two Lexus divisions compete against each other.

I could have gotten a used '05 from a private party for $1500 - $2000K less and there are some nice deals out there, but no warranty. Still though, I'm sure the car would be fine. I just wanted the piece of mind with the dealer warranty (CPO) and was inspected prior to being offered for sale, all fluids, brakes, wheel were swapped in accordance with the CPO program - to me that is worth the extra money. The car is going back to the shop to get some pre agreed options installed and Lexus is going to my work to drop off a loaner and pick up my car for service. After the work, they will drop off the car and pick up the loaner. Can't beat that - sure though it was included in the COP price, but one can still 'haggled' on the CPO price
