Oops, I forgot to mention that! The key was cut at Bellevue Lexus; a pretty big dealership.

Wow, I'm amazed. I've been dealing with Lexus of Seattle (which is in Lynnwood - go figure) which is a bit closer to home (about 100 miles one way) and so far no gripes. Was just curious who was willing to do a good deed. Thanks for the reply.

Thanks for the link ivan330, just placed an order with them.
Hopefully I'll be as lucky as you are and the Lexus dealer in my area does not charge me an arm and a leg to have the key cut and programmed.

You're very welcome. Make sure to call the dealerships around you. I called one by me, and they did not have the machine to cut the key, they referred me to the Bellevue one.

I suggest you call them up, if they can cut it themselves, find out how much it would cost. If they ask a lot (whatever it may be to you), you can find some places online which may cut the key for you, but I do not know what they would charge. And... they may require you to have bought the blank key from them...

Good luck! Also let us know how it turns out; how much, which dealership, etc.

Thanks Ivan330,
Just got the key today, it kind of looks like it's about the same quality as the original one. Called two dealers near me and both said that they just got the key cutting machine and are in the process of setting it up, couldn't tell me when it will be up and running. Luckily we have several Lexus dealers within driving distance, so I'll check on the other ones. One said that they will not charge me to program the key and the other one wanted $60. I'll keep you guys posted and Thanks again to you and everyone in this great forum.

After a couple of months of procrastinating finally got the key from the company that Ivan330 suggested, cut and programmed free of charge by Lexus of Rockville, MD. They were very friendly and helpful. Thanks again Ivan330 for saving us lots of $$$$.

Bellevue Lexus programmed my car for one remote and one subkey transponder for free! I had one master that was working. First time I had been to the dealership.
