we run out of our initial bumper to bumper wtty pretty soon, and I am wondering what options are out there in order to extend it. If anyone had extended their bumper-to-bumper wtty, please post here the info on how much you'd paid and where'd you buy it.

You will not be able to purchase the bumper to bumper warranty extension. For the extended warranty, please go to Lexus.com and search platinum extended warranty. It will dictate systems and components covered. I have been quoted $1300 for an extended 3 years and 75K miles at ZERO deductible. This means for $433/year, I am covered on major issues. I have 31K on mine and that means $0.03 per mile of extended warranty. I will be covered for: 7 years and 75,000 miles whichever comes first.
Here's the clincher: Our RX is covered by the "powertrain warranty up to 6 years and 70,000 miles" See below Lexus coverage:
Powertrain Warranty
The parts of the car that do the heavy-duty work need a heavy-duty warranty. The Lexus Powertrain Warranty lasts 72 months or 70,000 miles, whichever comes first. Except for the situations listed on the Basic Warranty page, this warranty covers repairs needed to fix defects in materials or workmanship of any component listed below:
Engine
Cylinder block and head and all internal parts, timing belt and cover, flywheel, oil pan, water pump, fuel pump, engine mounts, engine control computer, seals and gaskets.
Transmission and Transaxle
Case and all internal parts, torque converter, clutch cover, mounts, engine control computer, seals and gaskets.
Front-Wheel-Drive System
Driveshafts, axle, hub, bearings, seals and gaskets.
Rear-Wheel-Drive System
Differential carrier assembly, driveshaft, axle carrier, axle case, axle bearing, axle shaft, seals and gaskets.

Bumper to Bumper is good for 4 years or 50,000 miles. Means everything in the car is guaranteed, except for wear items such as brake pads fluids, etc..

mandyfig, thanks a lot for supplying that information. You're absolutely right, our cars are covered til 70K mi by factory powertrain wtty. We got our RX at 42K mi back in September, and now at 47K, so was just thinking if there is a way to prolong the bumper to bumper wtty. If there's none, oh well...

Mine expires this week on the 48 months.....but mileage is only 31,000 miles. I am getting the 7 year-75K miles Lexus Platinum warranty, ZERO deductible.
I have been lucky with my Acura TL extended warranty...this is the 1st Lexus extended warranty I have purchased.
There are a ton of extended warranty insurance out there......some maybe better that the ones Lexus sells.....but I am sticking to Lexus....maybe they will treat me better.....also trying to put back the money on the LEXUS brand. Hopefully, will result in getting the investment back......

I purchased the 75K bumper to bumper Platinum also at purchase time. At $110 per hour plus parts at Lexus dealer one repair will pay for the warranty.
I purchased a 100K warranty for a Honda C-RV I have and blew the trans at 89K, Honda paid for the tow, car rental for 3 weeks and everything else. It cost me nothing. I'm sold on a little extra peace of mind insurance!!!

Had received a mailing from Dealer Services or similar about the extended wtty. They quoted me on extended bumper to bumper wtty, to be covered through 2013 or odo reading of 100k mi, whichever comes first, + $100 deductable, roadside assistance included, rental vehicle included, at a total cost of $2900. And powertrain wtty was available til our RX reached 146K mi or 2013, whichever comes first, $0 deductable, roadside assistance and rental vehicle included, for about $1900.

Bumper to Bumper warranty is misrepresented. The traditional bumper to bumper 48 months 50K mile warranty is not the same as any extended warranty. No matter how you skin it. There are a lot of interior and exterior trims, etc., that will never be covered on any extended warranty. Read the fine print....
