Default Window Moulding on 04 RX330

The moulding around the triangular-shaped window on the back passenger side of our 04 RX330 was torn off in a carwash. We talked to a local dealer who told us the ENTIRE window needs to be replaced? I'm not thrilled about breaking the factory seal around a window to replace a moulding/trim piece but don't want to leave it "exposed", either.

Has anyone else had this happen (dealer says it's common)? How did you fix?

Any advice/feedback is appreciated.

The dealer knows what to do, but sometimes they opt to replace assemblies rather than just the components....good luck with the repair.

Who is paying for it? If carwash does, then let the dealer mess with it. If you have to pay for it yourself, take the trim piece (if it survived the ordeal) and take it to an autoglass place.

Doesn’t seem to be that unusual an occurrence. Neighbor's 05 had the same molding fly off on the freeway, Lexus replace the entire glass. Another friend had a similar experience in a car wash, also had the entire glass replaced. So far, no issues and the cars have remained tight. I check mine once in a while when I think of it, so far the trim has stayed tight.
