Red face how does the maintance required icon get removed. I had it serviced but icon is on

How can I get rid of the "maintance required" icon after I had the oil and filter changed. Is there a reset button somewhere or does the dealer have to do this and forgot:

Looked in the manual but it doesn't tell anything that will shut off the icon. It tells about what the icon means but not how to reset it.

all you have to do is click on the icon, and then change the miles remaining to 5000. the date is automatic i think

You didn't say what year, which would help. However, for my 05 all you do is put the key in the ignition, push in and hold the odometer reset button, then turn to key to run, but not to start. After a few seconds the maintenance icon goes away.

Of course, the dealer SHOULD have done that when servicing.

all you have to do is have the engine off and key in the off position. then push and hold down the ODO button (the thing that flips the screen from odo, tripA, tripB). keep holding it and then turn the key (without starting the car) to the ACC position. watch the screen (you should still be holding the button) and a little animation goes on the screen (like lines moving). when its done, let go and your set for another 5K miles.

This question gets asked at least once a month. I wish the moderators would post a sticky for this.

Of course there is a thingy on this forum called "search".
