Need some advice on buying this RX330
Hey Guys,
I'm shopping around for an RX330. I originally was going to buy and rx300 for the wife, but now she has changed her plans and wants an RX330, an 04 to be exact. I told her I didn't want to spend more than 20k for the rx300, but with her wanting a 330, the prices are going to be obviously higher. I am a bargain shopper when it comes to cars and here's what I found to be a bargain (click on the link):

I test drove the car and it drives great, no leaks! The interior is in good condition in comparison to another RX330 I drove last night with 44K miles. The major flaws of this car are on the body. As you'll probably saw, theres a small dent on the rear 1/4 panel, but am not concerned about it as the ding king can take it out for around 100 bills. Aside from the ding, the front bumper has some scuffs on the r/h corner and some chips on the paint. I mean, I just want to know if you guys think this is worth the money they are asking for. I'm going to submit an offer of 19.5K tomorrow to see if they accept it...if not, is this RX worth 21K in your eyes? The warranty will expire in April, so that's another thing to consider. I have two lexus already so I know they are reliable cars, but I have two V8 powered Lexus, so it may be a different story with the V6.
any thoughts?

Big service is around the corner at 90K ~ 1yr $1000~1200
Have the service records pulled from Lexus dealership.
Cosmetic damage is something you can decide on your own. A more detailed mechanic's report can get you some peace of mind.

If you decide to get it, @ $21k, it is a good buy. Considering the options on it. Cosmetic, such as the dent can be pulled for $100. Scuffs can be touched up. Salim is right, get the dealer to pull whole history on this car.
Good luck!

I would consult the various car price guides such as Edmunds, Kelly Blue Book, etc and form an opinion on this car's value. You have the nav, backup camera and a very nice car with low mileage. I don't have a feel for prices but, if the car guide places are in agreement, I wouldn't hesitate to jump on this, provided you come up with a decent service record from the dealer.
I have never used a factory installed Nav system but I would inlcude a Nav update as part of the deal.

So far I've negotiate the price down to 20K, but I think I can get it for 19.5K (my original offer). The lady that talked to me told me that if the car is not sold after a few weeks, they have to wholesale it at an auction, so I think I can get it for the amount am offering.
Now...how do I go about getting the dealer to pull the history of it? Will carfax give me all the info I need to know?
Thanks for the help guys!

so yeah...went today to buy the car and it sold earlier in the day. Went to the Lexus dealership to see what they had, nothing! ended up buying a mint 04 GS300 with 39K miles on it. This was my 2nd option. Oh well, no RX...

Bummer. That's the toughest part of knowing when to dig in or walk away. "Am I willing to lose it for XX dollars?" Always a hindsight thing. Hopefully you're just as happy with your 2nd option. A mint GS is still a nice ride. and even smoother if you get rid of the run flats if you have them

The RX was not mwant to be. Wait for the 2010 model.

It’s a really good deal. I paid $28,000 for 2004 RX 330 Certified Pre-Owned at a Lexus Dealer with 55,000 miles on it. Midlevel model no Nav, but has leather, heated seats, etc. Your typical optioned RX.

Picked up a 2005 330RX 16k miles last month for 32,500. Nav, heated seats, running bars and all the fun stuff. Thought was a pretty good deal. They through in the extended warranty.

32.5K seems high, but 16K miles, pretty young. This includes tax?
