Another chapter in dealing with Lexus
I just spoke to Lexus main office rep today after sending them a letter last month complaining about the steering pulling to the left and right. Yep, it won't go straight. If you loosen your grip on the wheel or look away for a second, it will wander off to one side or the other. It really isn't a pleasure to drive, yet.
They said to take it back to Spokane and get it fixed. Of course Lexus won't fix anything that they don't perceive as wrong.
The last time I had it at Lexus of Spokane in December, they said it drives just like any other RX with 18" wheels. Indicating of course that if it had smaller wheels, it would steer better. That doesn't fly with me. It was engineered for that size wheel.
The odd thing is that Lexus has no record of my car being at Lexus of Spokane for a steering issue or anything else.

that sucks. hopefully they can do something for you..
i have the same problem with my RX350 although the pulling to left or right is very minor but still noticeable. i just figured it out of alignment (already?) or something. let us know if you get this problem resolved..

Mine has had the alignment checked, tires balanced, inspected and rotated. No change. The rack tensioner spring was shimmed. That helped, but didn't cure the problem.

wonder what could be the problem then.
i don't think i'm quite ready to go through all that as it's only a few degrees off center.
did they make you pay for all that work? it sounds like it. if so, i would have thought Lexus would stand by their cars more.

Yep, I had it done at my expense. I didn't want Lexus thinking I wasn't doing my part.
The truth be known, the local Les Schwab Tire store doesnt charge for rotation or balance. They just want your repeat business.

I had a Solara like that. Car wouldn't go in a straight line. Toyota repeatedly said everything was within spec. I took the vehicle to a pro alignment shop and they said the tow was not correct and set it. The car suddenly would drive in a straight line again. I submitted a copy of the bill and the paperwork for 5 failed attempts from the Toyota dealer to the regional manager and they paid the bill. I never bought another vehicle from that dealer again.

2001 Solara. It was a really nice car, very quiet and comfortable. I traded it in for my 04 RX330.
The thing about the dealer's service manager is that he would repeatedly tell me everything was within spec and that all the Solaras drive like that. Like a pull string on a talking doll. Wouldn't listen and said the same thing over and over. He was also quite arrogant and rude. The dealership owner had us drive another Solara and it was fine. It ran a straight course but the service manager said they were both the same.
This was very frustrating. The car would rapidly wander from right to left or left to right without warning. I was constantly making steering corrections to keep the car going straight and this was extremely tiring on long trips. I fought with the dealer for three months before having an independent suspension/alignment specialist look at it. He fixed it in an hour. Funny thing is when I presented the bill ($90) to the Toyota Rep the dealership paid me with out a quibble. The owner tried to be nice and all apologetic about it but they had lost me as a customer.

If you you running run flat tires they will tend to do pull in the direction of the crown/slant of the road. Read the reviews on the GS AWD which has run flats. Just a thought.
