The georgetown,ky plant builds Avalon, Camry, Camry Solara and the upcoming Venza model . I worked on that site for an IT project.

So all Canada produced RX350's will have engine/transmissions from WV.

The WV plant recently started the production of engine/transmissions and the same RX350 engine is also used in.

Toyota Avalon
Toyota RAV4 V6
Toyota Camry V6
Toyota Sienna
Lexus ES 350
Toyota Highlander
Toyota Venza

I wanted to post this question on the other endless thread about Premium Gas... which was closed by the Moderator

I have a question to the experts here: If toyota uses the same engine on so many vehicles why do they "recommend" 91 Octane on some models and 87 Octane on other models for the same V6 output between 268 BHP & 270 BHP

First production on a new plant introduces potential start up issues....beware. When was 1st porduction date from the WV plant?

Have you checked the TSB's being issued for the new RX350 engines?

Oil leak, Tranny fluid leak.....scary...all of which are covered through 75,000 miles, but the repair required is horrendous....almost complete tear down.

I'm unaware of this. My car seems to be fine :knockonwood: . Do you have a link to these TSBs?

Do you know where I could find these TSB's? I've got an '08 RX350 and I'll keep an eye out for these types of leaks when I do my oil changes and tire rotations.

I'm pretty sure it was answered in the closed thread: the ECU map is different (more aggressive) in the Lexus vs. the Toyota. I'm not sure if anyone here is geeky enough to have dyno plots from the same dyno for a Toyota vs. a Lexus, but if they do, I'd be willing to bet the peak horsepower is more different than the advertised 2hp and that the shape of the torque curve in the Lexus motor has more area under it. But that's only a guess. It could simply be bogus marketing.

Gas is like oil, you are never going to convince the nay sayer. On a car like the RX, it really doesnt make that much difference if you use 87, 91 or 93 octane, its not a 19 psi turbo engine. If you want to use Mobil one oil, thats fine too, but it really doesnt amke that much difference if you use dino oil.

~New plant or new item from a plant? The WV plant has been in operation since 1996.

The current RX350 engine has been in production in WV since the intro of the most recently designed Camry. Basically it's the same engine and I've had no problems with my Camry V-6 which is nearing one year old with 14k miles. I feel more secure with a newly developed/produced Toyota engine than any other car company. Are you suggesting folks ought to consider not buying a New Lexus just because they've switched to a new engine and transmission made in the U.S.? Hmmmmm, you've made me feel like I've made a mistake Just Kidding!!

Yes you can.... if your VIN number starts with the letter "J". If yours was manufactured in Canada, the engine and transmission was made in West Virginia.

Same Engine block can have a different compression ratio builds in different vehicles. higher compression ratios means you need a slightly higer octane.
