Maybe Infiniti or Nissan.
I don't know about these small or large problem Lexus is having on there 08 or 009 as nothing has changed for years. If you wait until 2010 you can get the new model at or near sticker if of course you even like the body style. You will of course get all the new bells and whistle of course at a premium also. Now if you can wait until 2011 now then you may get a deal and some of the cobwebs will have been worked out of the new 201 0 model also. jm2pecos.

I have to agree with Zin. The lady wants a Lexus now, not next year or the year after. She has been offered a OK deal but I think she also knows she can may be able to get it for about $1K less than what has been offered. The problems that most owners have harped about are "rattle issues" that can be addressed and fixed by the dealer. Some have it and other's don't. I have the rattle issue somewhere in the middle dash area but have the full confidence that it will be resolved when I take it in and get a loaner to drive while the work is being done. I am not so **** to know that anything man made that has a problem can't be fixed. This is my 3'rd Lexus and I can tell you the quality is still there and Lexus service to it's customers is tops.

Default Update on my buying experience...

As promised here is the update...I found another 08 model, minus the nav package (which I didn't have to have...) at another dealer about 120 miles away. I called the original dealer and told him what I found and asked if he could come down to $38,000 on original deal (the one with nav) He said no, and the absolute lowest he would go was $39,100. That sounded fair to me (he came down from his initial offer of $40,866. * invoice $40,434). BUT, the price on the lesser model that I found elsewhere was $36,400. The dealer with the lesser model WOULD NOT budge on price. He had the last 08 AWD Premium package (& some other stuff) (no nav) in over a 200 mile radius from me! yes, I checked! I had him throw in the tow hitch mount, all weather mats, and cargo mat. I figured I paid $1000 under invoice. Sooo, basically I was glad to pick up my first Lexus (not quite as loaded, but with what I need). I am going to sell my 04 pilot myself, hoping to sell for $14,000. Hope to pick my new girl (my cars are female) up this weekend. She will be my first luxury car and I am sure I will be hooked! Thank you everyone...S (I did mention to both dealers that I was aware of the $2000 dealer incentive on 08 leftovers, not sure if it helped, but couldn't hurt!)

Thumbs up

You did great!!!!! Your dealer almost lost his shirt selling you this RX at that price. What color did you get? Have fun with your new RX. Just take it easy for the first 1000 miles and avoid long trips with constant speed until you've broken it in. Also remember to pop your transmission into "4" instead of "D" should you plan to tow anything.

not really, they still get paid from the factory for selling the car (volume), even if they make no profit from the car itself. But, whatever you pay and are happy with the price then all good.

Yup, they get the quarterly bouns and the 2% dealer holdback too. Anytime a dealer tells me they are losing money on my deal, I just smile at them. Trust me, if they were losing money, they would not make the deal.

My folks have a Nav. on their 330 and they almost never use it. If you need to get somewhere for the first time, you can have it mapped out from maps.yahoo.com or one of those other map sites. The one thing you can't have without the nav. though is the rear view camera which is very useful.

Congratulations by the way.

I don't think of having the nav as a daily usable feature but just knowing if my wife or kids are going someone they have it. Crazy things can happen if you make a wrong turn or get lost so I feel it's justified for that but it's pretty sweet to have everything on a screen to function it along with hands free telephone conversations. I will also add resale value because 90% of people will want nav when they are looking to buy.

Sure you can map out route before hand, but the trip is a lot relexing with the nav. Plus the nav is great when you get lost, or should I say you will never get lost again.

while normally i dont use the nav much. there have been times when there have been road closures or freeway shutudowns and i have no idea where im at, i just use the nav to re-route me. Some of those times have been late at night and quite a few times ive been lost in parts of town, where it helps to have a rifle in your passenger seat, if you get what i mean....

Also, if you run into a traffic jam, you can re-route your way around it. Knowing where all the gas stations and restaurants are on long trip help a lot too.
