2009 Navigation screen display
I'm new here, and not an owner yet. I would get the Nav screen if I purchased the RX350. I think I have learned that the 2009 model does not require that you hit "Agree" before proceeding in the menu. I sat in a 2008 model today that you did have to hit that button. That's like our Honda minivan. Not a huge thing, but annoying.
My question: when listening to XM Satellite stations can you select a screen that gives you artist and song title? Our Honda shows all information (channel, artist and song title) on one screen and I really enjoy that information. I sat in a Nissan Murano this week where you had to select an on screen button to get that information, but it would only appear for a few seconds before defaulting back to the channel number screen. I'm learning that different systems handle that in different ways.
What about the RX350?

If you get the vaistech satellite radio add-on, then it will display the song title and artist on the nav screen and you can keep it there if you like. It will also display any one line (artist or title, etc) on the radio display below the nav screen. This way you can have the map on the nav screen and the song title (or artist) on the lower display simultaneously.

For those that come later, press Info Button, screen display, then set the autotransition to 'off'. that will keep the system in audio or climate mode etc when you push those buttons rather than have it return to map. You can always press the map button to get back there of course. There are still a few things like putting the car in reverse that turns on the backup camera or taking a call via bluetooth that triggers the system back to map when you finish. there is no way to turn that off that i know of.

perfect ecount00. That is great help.
I sort of wish the screen was like the one on out 2005 Odyssey, where there are four lines of info on the only screen. Channel number, channel name, artist name and song title. Makes it nice.
My BMW 325i does not have a nav screen, so the Sirius Satellite info is simply on the radio unit face. You can see the channel number or name as a default view, or choose to flip over to get the artist name and song title.

That would be good.
On our xm installed by the dealer we get that info in 3 lines. On the touch screen if you go into text mode, top line has channel name and number, 2nd line has song name, 3rd has artist. Lines 2 and 3 are limited to 16 characters. expanding that would be a plus. Could be worse tho, our GS is a bit older and the display on that is 10.
At at least in our case with the dealer installed XM tuner, Ken's tip above works even tho we don't have the Vais module. We typically use the touch screen text mode for the stereo. But as he said, on occasion when we are using the nav and want to stay in map mode that fact that you can get at least 1 line of info on that little radio display window is a plus. There is a 'Text' hard button down there that toggles between song and artist etc. On our GS which only has the touch screen, can't do that. We consider it a quirky little offset for the RX's dated stereo/nav look.
