I have a 2005 RX330...and am riding on 235/65/R17 Tires right now. I do mostly highway driving in Southern Ontario and am looking for new summer tires. If I put out my main criteria...they would rank in quietness, performance, and then durability. Any ideas on make and/or model?

1. Do a search. Lots of discussions on tires.
2. I am going with the Bridgestone Dueler Alenza in the 18" size. There has been a huge discussion here and other places and this tire rates quite well.

you have 17in wheels on your 2nd gen rx? are they oem? seems odd to me

i have some toyos on my rx 235/55/r18. ride is smooth and quiet. i can get the exact model tomorrow

I really like the Alenza on my RX330. They ae quieter than the OEM Goodyears, and they handle much better. They have better tire wear and are atually quite god in the snow. By design they are a Highway tire. The surprising thing for me is that the tread contact patch is 1.2" wider than the same sized Goodyear tire in my 235//55/18 size. Both had the same sidewall width but the Alenza was wider at the tread. This results in much better handling and cornering.

As suggested, the tirerack.com is a good place to do research. Also, do a search here in this forum and there are lots of tire threads.

I know that Tirerack will import into Canada and depending on the tires you're looking at, you can save good $$. I would also look at www.discounttires.com.

Tires 23 in Etobicoke typically has low prices for tires, but it's hard to beat US prices!

I had the Michelin MXV'4 on my 2005 RX Thundercloud which has the 18 inch rims. The standard rim size on the 2005's is 17 inches, 18's were an option or in the case of the Thundercloud package they were 18's. Anyway last Oct. I replaced the Michelins that had about 32K on them with Bridgestone Dueler Alenza's. I couldn't be more pleased with them. The Michelins would probably not made another winter in ND as the tread was getting down and traction would be poor at best. They probably would have lasted me another 5K given more summer time or fall driving conditions. The Alenza's were great in snow and yet have a very quiet and smooth ride. The Michelins are only rated at 25K for wear and the Alenza's are I believe either 60K or 70K and are priced lower than the Michelins. I strongly recommend the Alenza's and I'm pretty sure they are available in 17 in as well as the 18s.

Interesting that nobody has actually suggested a summer tire, which is what the OP asked for...
Of the tires that tirerack sells which match your criteria, I've only driven on the Yokohama Advan S.T. They handled quite well in the dry, Ok in the wet and were a bit noisy. They only lasted about 20K miles.

i just put in continental Continental's Street/Sport Truck Summer tire , they are 10 times better than the Michelin mvx i had before... tire i would personally suggest the continentals ..at tire rack for 156$ per tire
