Default headlight condensation

this is my first post. I have an 05 rx330. I just want to share my experience with trying to get the headlights replaced. I bought my RX used in Oct. 2007 with 42K. I saw evidence of condensation in the headlights. When I took it to the dealer for my oil change at 47K in Jan 08,I showed the service writer the headlights. He said there was nothing he could do because there was no condensation that he could see.Well ,you know as well as I that the condensation would appear after the factory warranty had expired. The service writer and the Lexus rep that I called both said they would honor my claim if the condensation returned after the warranty was up,which I thought was just lip service. Sure enough, last month at 52K the headlights were filled with condensation, and by the time I got it down to the dealer after the weekend on Monday, there was still some condensation left there for the service manager to see. I am glad to say after a month of waiting for them to make a decision the service manager called me to say that they are going to replace both headlights and they were ordering the new parts. I am going to schedule an appt. when I am due for my next oil change. I wanted to share this because I wouldn't have known there was even a problem with the headlights if it wasn't for this forum. I also have gained some respect for the dealership,as well as Lexus for standing behind this car.I know there was a TSB on this problem.

Good for you they are honoring the deal....some dealers deny the claim after warranty, especially if you do not spend big bucks at the dealers for your normal routine services, such as tires, oil changes...sucks...but you got lucky!

Welcome to the Club.

It's good to let us know about your experience.

Since I got back to the U.S. from Mexico, I have had a few people locally that I have met who have had issues with the dealer here, usually small things, but I always tell them to take a look at our RX forums and print out pages from our site and take them to the dealer. I have had at least one complain about condensation.

Default same thing

Same thing on my driver side a few hot days and it cleared up. I think its from high pressure pay and spray washers that the dealers use. This is why I only hand wash my car. Anyone know where the leak in gasket is? Can I silicone bead it?

Try to take out the headlights....you have to take the bumper down!

you can simply take the turn signal bulb out, wait for a few hours for condensation to clear and you'll be good. Much better (and cheaper) than replacing the entire headlight assembly.

The Lexus dealer should replace them under warranty. Mine did the same thing, this is a common complaint so there should be a service bulletin about this issue. Make sure you get a good service writer when you bring it in to the dealer. . . someone who has been with Lexus a long time. I had to be very assertive to get the guy I dealt with to get him to agree to replace them under warranty. The last time I came in, I noticed that guy is no longer working there so I guess Lexus got rid of him.
