Do you have to remove that big plastic cover to access the plug(s)?
Are there 2 plugs like the RX300 or just one?
How much to refill (just a drain and fill not dropping the pan)?
Thanks..KW

There is a 10 mm hex in the bottom of the pain to drain it. almost like a oil drain. The time I had it done at 30k at the local Toyota dealer was $6 labor and $ 24 for the fluid. Will have it done again at my next oil change at my Toyota dealer the local Lexus dealer is a ***** in Mobile. Will not let them change the oil in the car and rip me off.

If you are only draining 3.7 qts u are not changing around 7- 8 qts.
Having the system flushed out is the only way to assure you are getting 98% of the old fluid out. Last time I had it done they used 10 qts.

When I do drain and fills on my RX300, I do 3 of them over a 3 week period. And even then, I remember something somewhere that I read that even that only gets around 75% or so out.

I drain and fill my tranny every other oil change.
So that's about every 14K (I use synthetic oil and do an oil change every 7K).
Use Toyota IV Long Long last Trans fluid.

If your Toyota dealer will not work on your Lexus he must be in with the Lexus dealership. Try another one that is not to far away from you to save big $$ for oil changes and other things

Normally, I would agree, but for peace of mind and knowing I am getting all of the old fluid out, $109 for a fluid exchange with Type IV is a pretty decent price.

I had a service garage flush the tranny for around $60. I brought in the synthetic tranny fluid (Amsoil)so I guess total was about $120. That is a lot less expensive then a new tranny. Plus I will only be doing this one time during my ownership as I had it done at 40K & traded it in at about 90K. 50K trouble free miles for $120, sounds plenty cheap to me.
