I have a 2004 RX330 and I was told when I purchased the truck that the Navigation is thru satellite & it upgrades automatically. So I've been noticing that newer area's never seem to show up on the Navigation which prompted me to call the dealer and they told me that I need an upgrade & it costs quite a bit. Does anyone know where I can get an upgrade at less expensive price.

automatic upgrades
that's a good one. the maps are on a dvd. upgrading is as easy as ejecting the old one and inserting the new one. try ebay or craig's list. be sure you are getting a factory original not a copy. A dealer copy is usually around $250 give or take. The lastest version is 7. Eight will be out in a few weeks I would think. It's not required that you update to the latest.
It's important to get the right generation of dvd for your car's hardware. For example, dvd v7 comes in generation 5 for newer cars, generation 4 for slightly older like my 06 GS, generation 3 for before that etc. I don't know which generation of hardware your 04 has. others will i'm sure.

That is funny about the automatic upgrade/update ... although, that would be cool.
The 2004 RX is a Gen 3 system.

good luck. if you have trouble finding the nav dvd reader, it's usually either below the cargo floor, behind a small flip out door in the cargo area or under the seat. different spots in diff years and i don't know where it is in your car. if you use the search feature you'll find threads with pdfs included that give pictures of where it may be. once you find it, it's as simple as pushing an eject button and inserting the new dvd.
