alignment problems
We have noticed uneven tire wear and have had it checked by the dealer numerous times requiring realignment each time. We only have about 20,000 miles and we are on our 4th alignment. Anyone else had this problem?

We have had tires rotated. The wear is along the edge of the front tires (had been noticed on the drivers side at first but the last time was on the passenger side). The first we took it in the dealer replaced the tires - but the problem just keeps returning.

i would go to another reputable shop for diagnosis. sounds like their taking you for a ride.

I wondering if you might be having a bad camber (could be bolts, strut out of whack).
I had this once on my front, left side of my RX300 despite rotation, but my uncle and I traced it down to the problems we were having on the other side side (right, front) and a broken shock that was causing the left side to compensate (due to weight of driver). Now, that's a rare one, but it occurred.
What tire pressure do you currently have and on what kind of tires?

I appreciate the suggestions. We have Michelin tires and not sure what the tire pressure is, although it has been checked. We have also taken the car to a well respected car shop and had another alignment done last week. I had wondered about the possibility of a broken shock but wouldn't that be obvious when they checked the car?

I'm not sure if it's just coincidental, but my 2008 RX has had to have two alignment jobs in the 8,000 miles/1 yr I've owned it. No problems with uneven wear, but I find it frequently is pulling to the left.

@ the first service, I asked them to fix the alignment, since its covered under warranty for the first year. They said the alignment was fine, and the tire was low on pressure so they inflated it. Driving away from the dealer I could tell they had done nothing, so I drove right back. The service guy tried to argue with me, and told me "they all do that." We went for a ride in one of the loaner cars, and I showed him how I could drive down the road without my hands on the wheel, and that I couldnt do that in my car.
He seemed annoyed, but asked a mechanic to drive it. We went on a 2 mile loop and the mechanic could tell the car was pulling, and agreed that the alignment should be done. Once they did it, it completely fixed the problem.
My service guy seemed reluctant to do it. My main concern was having to replace the tires prematurely.

Our RX was doing the same thing, always pulling to the right, but I'm glad all is good now. I have to brought the car in twice to get it fixed. Each time the dealer told me the alignment was off. (doesn't that mean they didn't do the 1st alignment right at all?) I was lucky to have the same service gal who was really nice and took care of the problem. If I were having problem with my service adviser, I would just give him/her a really bad score on the survey and find another one next time. There is no need to waste your precious time on a service adviser who doesn't speak your language.

The michelins that Lexus puts on their vehicles are very soft tires, subsequently, they like to have really low tire pressures such that the wheels hold the road with maxium grip. In doing so, the tires prematurely wear on the edges, esp. the fronts. I have increased the pressure in the tires and have had excellent longevity with the new Brigdestone duler alenza's they paid for. This was after alot of argueing with the service department and service personelle. They think that I am some moron who does not know anything about tires and just buys automobiles. When I told them maybe there is not enough pressure in the tires they responded to the, "what is written in the door jamb and what the recommended tire pressure on the tire is." I quickly told them that the Bridgestones are rated for much higher tire pressure than the michelines. For some odd reason, I think that service people in general are becoming more and more less educated, so when you need an alignment, tire pressure change, they dont understand why, maybe they need to go back to school.

Try your vehicle to a reputable shop some times we have to go an extra mile to have our things done the right way, number 2 when you go to lexus pick a different service advisor believe me have an(( sa ))with knowledge works ... That way you get familiar with the service team.... Im guessing your car still under warranty..... Anything strange take it over use your warranty to the fullest you pay for that. Until they get it right.
