Question 2007 RX 350 - ABS Malfunction

I have a well cared for 2007 RX 350. This week the ABS lights are coming on. I am guessing this is a ABS malfunction -except the lights do go off from time to time. I will be taking it in to the dealer - but, before I do I wanted to find out all I can - anyone else have/had an ABS problem - etc...

Anyone dealt with this?

Call the service guy first and see if it might be something else. Sometimes the warning lights can mean multiple things, like just a loose gas cap, etc.

Welcome to the Club.

True. sometimes there are errors that can pop up related to other things.

Though main issues with ABS light coming up can be the sensors on the wheels being dirty, wheel sensor malfunction, the the brains of the ABS being fried (rare) or one of the connectors in the engine bay being dirty. Another rare issue can be a bent axle. I am sure Lexus will also check the tire pressure and potentially the wheel balance.

Sometimes there are codes that can turn off by themselves, meaning the error has been resolved. I know of a code, P0171, that can arise from a temporary issue of having too much air to the amount of gasoline thrown into the combustion cycle, and that usually after the vehicle has been stopped and started 3 times, the light can turn off.

I should mention that on my RX300, I once had to do an emissions test when I was in Mexico City (long story), but it threw my ABS light on given the way I had to perform the test. Later, the light turned off by itself.
