Default 15K mile checkup

Can this be done by a DIY? My RX just reached 15K and I just don't feel like paying $250+ for an Oil Change. Do you recommend a 'Jiffy Lube' type place? My dealer is here on the East Coast (Ray Catena) and they want to charge me $350+ for this 15K service. I don;t want to pay any amount over $100. Any suggestions???

If you want a dealer type service and less money, take it to your local Toyota dealer. Good luck. Please none of the oil change chains...very risky.

Default Split the work

I like to do part myself (oil change, air filter, cabin filter, etc.) and then leave the more challenging things to the dealer. Make sure you request only what the manufacturer recommends, not what the dealer recommends. They like to add unnecessary tasks for higher profits. I have to agree on avoiding the quickie joints for oil changes. I've heard more than one disaster story that resulted from a quickie oil change, i.e. destroyed engine.

We just took our RX in with 10K on it. I just had them change the oil and rotate the tires (For $93). I can change the cabin air filter myself. The service manager said, "do you want to do the 10K service, because its more than just those two things?" I said no, and he didnt try to sell me on it.

Just ask that Stealership to do an Oil change "ONLY". Here in FL my stealership charged me 29.99+tax, Castrol Semi-Synthetic. They might do the inspection for you for free and they might rotate the tires for free too. The only thing that really needed is oil change and tire rotation, others like cabin filter, engine air filter and and weather strip ... u can DIY. BTW: they will charge you more for the 15K service for a very ridiculous price. GL
