I have an '08 RX350 with 129k miles. Original timing chains (it has three chains, gears and tensioners listed under parts). Do you really think the chains don't last longer than belts? I'm looking into changing them now.

Under normal circumstances, chains will last as long as the car. The parts that need replacing are the plastics chain guides and maybe the tensioner. I would also keep an eye on coolant level, water pump doesn't last forever.

indeed. Wife’s 08 RX350 water pump went bad at 100k miles. Replaced it along with fan belt, thermostat. Cost around $650 by my mechanic.

My “RX01” is presently getting a makeover by me as we chat. Lol I was the second owner. I purchased it off of a lot with 20k on the odometer. I have done 98% of all the work done to this automobile since ownership. I am just rolling over *** 205,000 miles ***! I completed my second round of timing chain, water pump, seals, hoses etc... I had all the gaskets replaced. Including the infamous valve cover gaskets. Transmission fluid/filter changed every 25k. It runs so well I am sinking about $5k into it. Including all new LED’s and new light housings. I have looked at replacing my car. I only wanted to spend $10k! And all that I saw for that cash was someone else’s junk! You can’t find anything even close to my beat up Rx300 for $10k that can even compare.... So I am keeping her and giving her a makeover!!! I “LOVE my RX300!”💕❤️💕
