Default Adaptive HID

For 09 model, adaptive HID headlight is an optional item. Is it worth while to pay an extra 550 for this AFS feature ? Thanks in advance of your advice.

I thought if the car had HIDs, it comes with the AFS feature but me personally, I think you can live without the feature. My car came with it and it just looks cool when you're turning or first cranking up the car, looks like its waking up

Apparently, to trim down the cost on new 09, Lexus makes AFS an optional item. All standard 09 came with just HID only without AFS feature.

If you get HID, you get AFS. But HID's are not standard on the RX.

$550? Just roll it into price. Comes out to about $10 a month if you think its worth it.

I would pass if it's an option, especially at $550. I only notice my lights move when I'm driving through my neighborhood at 25 mph. I don't see (pun intended) the real value that it brings as opposed to stationary lights.

I somewhat agree with exmeaguy's input. I can use $550 for a better add-on option. Thanks every one.

I just noticed at the dealer that base RXs actually have reflector-style headlamps. I got a loaner RX350 with AFS HIDs.

If there's going to be the same HIDs on it, regardless of AFS, I'd say save the money for something else. But if that $550 is the difference between halogen and HIDs, then go for it.

I don't find AFS as useful as I woulda hoped so, maybe when driving on very dark streets or highways, or going through woods and countryside, but for urban/suburban driving, it's not that useful.

I have it, and I like it. It's of most value at slower speeds on curvy roads. But, I guess I agree with everyone -- if it's $550 for just AFS, it's kind of a toss up.

it was packaged into my car when i got it in 2004.

however, back in 2004, this was like a cool new feature that (to my knowledge), not any other car in its class had, or even in lexus cars. i think the RX was first. anywhoo, to be honest, it doesnt help illuminate the road anymore than regular HIDs, but it definately is worth $550 for cool factor

save your money, AFS doesn't make a difference that much.

I've found that the AFS is quite useful for us, we have it on both our IS and RX. when driving at night or late dusk, sure is nice to see a little further around the bend.
