Default helping the economy..IS 250 for '09 RX350 on East Coast

Well..I was flirting with the idea of trading in the '06 IS250..NAV, Prem Pkg for a 2009 RX350 w/ Nav PPkg..A week ago they were taking off $5K off MSRP of $44,850. Didn't really do anything until mid week when i got email for $6K off MSRP. Although there has been a lot of debate whether to get the 2009 or 2010 re-designed model, this wasn't a choice for me as I wasn't going to put that much into a new car with all things considering and already having 2 Lexus cars paid off. My wife really liked the IS but I started to get more involved to see what kind of deal i could get with a purchase and trade for the SUV (which I would be doing anyway in 6 mo's)

So on Friday, I went to the local dealer and he gave me a pretty good deal...7K off MSRP and a higher amount for a trade in than expected. Called Orlando and Miami dealers to see where we were...they were good with 8K off MSRP but no real value for trade by phone except general trade value. So not satisfied with the overall deal b/c i felt i could do a little better, I held off. Sat morning I had already planned to go to Augusta GA for the day and decided I would call a few dealers on my way to Augusta including their local dealer....told him what i was looking for and wasn't sure what he could do. Since I was driving the IS250 up there anyway with title in hand, I could broker the trade deal as well.
So the story goes, the Augusta dealer got my business. Jim Hudson Lexus was a very pleasant dealership to work with and professional staff all around.
The IS250 was the Smokey Granite/Ivory and we wanted the same exterior color...got the Smokey Granite/Grey Int with Nav, Prem Pkg, for $8300 off MSRP.
So traded 06 IS250 for 09 RX350 for $18K OTD. Extremely happy with the upgrade and drove much easier than the IS with the additional power.

What do you think..am I on par with purchase or for a SE dealer close to N Florida could I have done better possibly? (again I had to work a trade deal as well)

I guess no one bought a new '09 RX 350 over the weekend to take advantage of the big sale on them? just curious to know what others got off MSRP on theirs...I think I did well but I thought i remember another post saying they were offered $10K off a new 09.. oh well. happy with the purchase though
