'99-'03 RX300 was Generation 1
'04-'06 RX330 + '07-'09 RX350 (and RX400H) was Generation 2
'10-'15 RX350 (and RX450H) + ?? will be Generation 3

The list above is correct. The Gen refers to body style, which remains constant with just minor alterations. The ubiquitous RX330-350, produced from '04 to '09, is the body most people associate with the RX (the 350 has a slightly larger engine, and a different transmission). Gen 1 was fairly primitive by today's standards, although its only major inherent negative was an inconveniently large turning radius. Gen 2 turned into the best selling Lexus model, comprising over 40% of all Lexus sales in most years of its production.
The Gen 3 is getting very favorable advance reviews. We shall see how that does.

That is unless you are talking about the DVD system and in that case, the 2006 model is considered generation 4.

Or unless you are talking about your grandfather, and in that case you would be Gen 3.
