What is the purpose of valet lock out for the trunk? Is the trunk not accessible from back seat?

Nothing is going to stop a determined valet from getting into the back of an SUV, but if the electric hatch is locked and the roll up cover is closed, there would be no way to see what is stored behind the rear seat, and the only means of access would be to tear out the cover.
You already gave the valet the keys to your car; if he's that bent on doing dastardly deeds, he would steal the whole car.
I think that's the theory.
I don't think I have ever had a problem with a valet, although I don't leave computers, cameras or big bags of cash lying around in the car.

I figure some of the young bucks will read this thread and think "that's a nice story grandpa"
I definitely had several cars with the headlight dimmer on the floor. I actually had a car once that had AM only, no AC, power nothing other than steering, and the windshield washer control wasn't on a steering column stalk it was a small rubber pedal on the floor where that old dimmer switch you guys were talking about was way back in the day. By pressing the pedal, it compressed a little bladder and forced windshield cleaner onto the glass. I'm pretty sure it was original equipment and not a 'mod' . Ford Fiesta circa 1980 I believe.
