Default Do I have XM radio?

Am at work now, so can't check, but remember that when we picked up our 09 Pebble Beach the salesman pointed out the AM button was AM-SAT but we were not "charged" for it. Said its a bonus. But, we did not spend much time trying to get it to work. Then, today, finally set up My Lexus and looked at service history and see XM radio was installed! Do I need a subscription to test it out? But, importantly, the only antenna I see is the standard on on the right rear roof. Is the XM antenna incorporated into this? Or would there be another antenna.?

I also have an 09 Pebble Beach. XM is not built in. It needs to be installed separately and I think it requires a separate antenna -- at least mine did. It's a small black rectangle, maybe an inch square, that they mounted up on the roof near the other antenna. In general XM does require a subscription, but perhaps since yours is new there may be a complimentary period (3 months or so) to give you a chance to try it out and see if you like it. I had XM in my previous car so I just transferred my subscription to the new radio.

Checked with service department and they did install the XM, but I don't remember a separate antenna. Will check tonight. At least something was free - maybe!

I think that they would have had to put an antenna on the roof somewhere. Could be near the front or the rear.

It does not work. I think they installed the XM in anticipation of the purchaser wanting it and they would just have to hook the antenna up. Going to try to ask them why my XM doesn't work and see what happens.

Is your car in a garage? XM is satellite radio, so it won't work indoors like regular radio does. The antenna (if there is one) has to have a clear view of the southern sky, where the satellite is located. (Although, XM does have terrestrial repeaters in some metropolitan areas.) The signal can be blocked by buildings, hills, etc.

The am/sat button means it's prewired for sat but without an xm tuner, a subscription to the service and an an antenna you won't get sat radio. Our sat antenna is on the roof near the OEM one for am/fm. It's a little puck antenna about the size of a half dollar so it's easy to overlook. Installing the tuner and antenna for xm is fairly labor intensive and therefore costs a few 100$ so would seem unlikely they just 'threw it in'.
