depends if you go to lexus for the service.

if you do:
oil changes will run you around $150
and then every 15K miles, you will get a major service, which will run about $300

both of these cover quick oil changes and refilling fluids, tire pressure, making sure everything is okay. kind of costly, and then you have to factor in brake pads, tires, etc etc.

and so if you change the oil yourself, it should be less than $50

Watch out for the upsell of service. Consult the forum . .the only one that I know is a general opinion to drain an fill transmission fluid more frequently than the min. specified by manufacturer. .. Oh .. that also depends on the model you are driving.

You can take your synthetic oil to the dealer too.

My wife drove into our lexus dealer service Friday at 5:45 PM with a nail in her tire.
They repaired the tire for free in 20-25 minutes and washed the RX.
I don't know if Chevy or Ford would do the same thing.

It no more expensive than any other luxury car. Of course if you comapre it a Toyota, the maintenance is more expensive.

The cost depends on the dealership. I've found an oil and filter change to run $45 at Woodfield Lexus, for example. http://www.woodfieldlexusads.com/Ser...ecials_Ad.html

You can also print out the coupons and ask if your local Lexus dealer will match the price. Mine does.

You can choose to have your routine maintenance done by a Toyota dealer for about 20% less.

If you have to ask how much the maintenance on a Lexus RX330 or RX350 is, then you cannot afford it. These wagons don't break down often, but when they do it's usually double what you would pay at one of the other luxury brands. Count on a drivetrain issue between 60,000 and 80,000 miles that will cost between $2,000 and $5,000. And most people I know have an electronics or control system issue that can cost $1,000.

The 2010 RX-350 now specifies 0W-20 engine oil only.
- synthetic
- better fuel economy

I'll try to post the page from the owner's manual.

While neither I nor any of my Lexus owning friends had any powertrain issues, Lexus does have a pretty good warranty.

Powertrain Warranty

The Powertrain Warranty is for 72 months or 70,000 miles, whichever occurs first. Except for the situations listed on the Basic Warranty page, this warranty covers repairs needed to fix defects in materials or workmanship of any component listed below:

Engine
Cylinder block and head and all internal parts, timing belt and cover, flywheel, oil pan, water pump, fuel pump, engine mounts, engine control computer, seals and gaskets

Transmission and Transaxle
Case and all internal parts, torque converter, clutch cover, mounts, engine control computer, seals and gaskets

Front-Wheel-Drive System
Driveshaft, axle, hub, bearings, seals and gaskets

Rear-Wheel Drive System
Differential carrier assembly, driveshaft, axle carrier, axle case, axle bearing, axle shaft, seals and gaskets
Here is a Lexus warranty comparison

Just the parts alone for the 100K cost me over $400. But I traded my RX anyway...

As has been suggested, if you don't do any of your own maintenance, then it can be expensive as compared to "normal" cars. Probably in line with other luxury brands, although I have no experience yet. My BMW is in warranty but I will wait and see how it costs to maintain it.

My 2005 has been flawless with only one complaint on moisture in one headlight and it was replaced.

My dealer has a computer center, nail salon, coffee bar, free washes (just call ahead of time) etc, etc. You have to pay for that somehow.

I do my own routine maintenance so the cost is only in materials.

The required maintenance isn't more than any other comparable car. The Lexus dealerships tend to overcharge. DIY or use an independent.

Default Oil change

I don't know where the person who pays $150 for an oil change goes but in Minneapolis it is $47 which includes care wash (hand dried) and check and fill fluid levels
