Thanks, I purchased a TOMS override device from Japan, naturally all the instructions are in Japanese.

Unfortunately, I do not know any Japanese

Would anyone be kind enough to translate the following installation steps ?

Many thanks

Thanks for the heads up Dave

TOMS override device essentially overrides the navigation specific safety lockouts i.e. it allows the passenger to see mp3 folders / make bluetooth calls / enter destination while the vehicle is in motion

Okay, here you go,

09001-TTV14 Installation Manual

1.disconnect negative battery terminal
2.remove panels around the TV monitors by removing screws/clips.
3. remove screws from TV monitors and pull towards you.
4. Look for a 14pin connector from behind the TV monitor. Connect (replaced)with the supplied harness.
5. The 14pin connector from the car to be connected with the female side of the TV harness.
6. refer to the (installation location and/or parts number list by model), check the location of the navigation unit, remove interior panels and expose the navigation unit. In some instance, you may need to remove the entire navigation unit)
7. From the Navigation unite, look for a 18pin connectors (just like the NAV1 Harness connector/our product), connect with the supplied NAV1 Harness.
8. The 18pin connectors from the car to be connected to the female side of the NAV1 harness.
9. connect negative battery
10. check/inspect the operations of the unit. If operates normally, put back panels/interior panels.

.....hey I'm at work so apologize for the grammar/spell errors.

Hope this help.

Where can I find out about the "TOMS override device from Japan". How much functionality does it provide? What does it cost? Where can one buy one?

I would appreciate more information especially if this device returns full functionality to the Nav/Bluetooth systems.

Hi, thanks so much for the translation

I have scanned in a couple of other pages from the manual, I was wondering if you would be kind enough to take a quick look ? I'm just looking for what specific functions the switch performs and if there may be any other installation instructions ? I think there may be a few sentences on this page but it's hard to tell because I don't know any Japanese

Thank again, really appreciate it

Continued...I think this is the bit that mentions what functions the switch performs when it is ON / OFF, would really appreciate if someone could translate..

As an aside, do you think the unit would work if only the NAVI harness was connected ? I have a feeling the TV plug is different on my vehicle but the NAVI connector is the same.. I would be interested in seeing what the NAVI function performs (I think it may be described below ?)

Finally, there may be something on this page (I doubt it though, but just in case..)

From the 2 diagrams, I gather that TV is referring to the navigation monitor and NAVI refers to the harness which has to be installed in the trunk -- is there anything else worthwhile mentioned on this page ?

Again, thanks so much for any input, greatly appreciated
