As the RX is a new experience for me, I am noticing others around here. It seems that most have painted door handles, but some are chrome. Was chrome an option or standard to specific years?

I took off the painted ones and put chrome on my flint mica. I think the handles added a nice touch to the darker color and tinted windows.

It's always personal preference though.

Chrome door handles were a change for the 2008 model year and carried over to 2009 as well as standard equip. They were not an option for previous years from Lexus. However, I have seen ABS chrome overlays for painted handles on ebay.

I believe chrome door handles are offered for 2008 and up RX .. you can always change yours from painted to chrome ones for a couple hundred dollars ...

Nope. I prefer the painted ones that I have, actually. Just wondering what I was seeing. So I guess I was seeing 2008 or 2009 vehicles (or earlier vehicles that the owner took the effort to replace).

The only way you can tell an 08 RX350 vs an 07 are the chrome handles. If you had an 07, to upgrade to an 08....get chromies.

And yes, the chromies look better on darker color rx.

Well - I took my wifes 04 Flint Mica (which we had now for a little less than a year), replaced the handles with OEM chome ones... added the seven-spoke, 18-in aluminum alloy with Liquid Graphite finish rims I picked up on ebay... and everyone thinks she drives an 08 .

Now I need to finish my turn signal mirror install just to make it a bit different than the 3 other RXs in the neighborhood.

Oh ya - did the cross bar removal on the roof rack. Great suggestion I picked up on this board.

I have two 04's, purchased the chrome handles on EBAY for $24.00/ car. Easy to install since they come with 3M tape, took ten minutes/car, they look great the company included free shipping. The real chrome handles were available from a Japanese company for $129/handle, which would necessitate a much longer install time. The plastic chrome are the way to go

I have a 09 with chrome. My car is black. I think I would have prefered the black. I like black.

Why would you want chrome door handles? Haven't you guys ever heard of the term "understated".

Post a pic. The last thing you should do is replace the RX330 to RX350....LOL!!!! Then the transformation is complete. My wife is a simulated 07. 7 spoke graphite rims, TC cloud grille, yes, unique. That's the key, unique. There's so many RX around. If I get my hands on a set of chromies I will go for it. But if not, I am cool.

Rx350 emblems are now available on EBAY for $18.00. Had a friend who purchased 2 PEBBLE BEACH emblems for $60.00 on Ebay and then got PB mats for $75.00. He's now trying to find PB wheels and he'll be all set with an 04 Pebble Beach.

Hey man, go to the SC430 forum and see what your fellow Lexus owners do to their cars. Understated is a very subjective term, I love my chrome handles on my RX. LOL
