Ballast. To be honest moisture is to be expected with all vehicles. Especially this one as it has 'less' of a seal due to the moving projector thus more room for air to enter [yes, i know it is sealed as well]
Regardless, based upon what you are describing it is the ballast. My fathers' 2004 had a ballast go out a few months ago. So the mechanic ordered a suitable [in terms of size] complete HID kit with bulbs, etc. So now i have a spare ballast and extra bulbs.
To be hoenst, you will pay 60$ for one bulb or 150-200$ for a complete kit with two ballasts and bulbs. The cost to benefit-ratio is low on that choice, as well as no guarantee that the bulb is bad.
Remember stick with the '6000k' temperature.
Good luck.

With the HID conversion kit I assume the power wire that goes to the headlight plugs directly in to the aftermarket ballast without modification. Then you just mount the new ballast wherever you desire? Any pics?

Ok, so my last 3 cars have had factory HIDs. What kit do you guys recommend? It's for my mom's car. I think this is the cheaper option. I'm assuming the high beams and low beams are separate. Are they both on a ballast? I honestly haven't even looked at her car to tell.

Why 6000K? OEM HID is 4300K. 6000K is more blue and more eye fatiqued, it's his wifes car so I'm sure he would like her to see the best on a dark rainy night.

No, he needed a kit asap. And well, my eBay seller couldn't get them to me in a few days... so he bit the bullet, but now i have an extra ballast.
It was an aftermarket kit from the place where it gets serviced [private, not dealer], and well, Lexus wanted around 400$ a side for the OEM Denso HID ballasts/bulbs... IIRC
Because that is what most Lexus' are 'closest' to... ?
He had the OEM hid's, and bought the 6000k setup and it was a near perfect match.
Furthermore 4300k is yellowish, whereas 5000k is about as close to 'ideal' white that you can get, 6000k is more so a rich looking color output, with a tiny hint of blue in the mix.

I have 04 RX330 and I am experiencing problems with my passenger side low beam HID headlight. I assumed bulb and purchased a new set of D2S bulbs---when I put the bulb in it didn't work. So then I tried the same bulb in the drivers side it lite right up. At this point from my reading on this forum thinking it must the ballast... But then now it is working??? I this possible?? Is intermittent low beam working and then not a confirmation of bad ballast diagnosis????? I am just not sure what to do now. My vehicle is out of traditional warranty, but I did purchase an extended warranty thru Lexus---would this be covered??? Thanks for any advise you can give...

It's certainly possible that the problem can be intermittent. Had that problem with passenger side headlight in 2009. Worked some days and not others. Ended up buying a Denso ballast from Auto Electronic, which fixed the problem and the ballast still works well. Relatively simple to install.
