Changing to Mobil 1
I have rx 08 350 with 26,000 miles and am Changing to Mobile 1 full synthetic..Have always used what Lexus puts in every 5000 miles..I know a lot of you use Mobile 1 and wondering how far you go between oil changes and have you noticed in difference in performance...I am in Texas where the temps get plenty hot....What are you thoughts on this oil ?

mobil 1 is awesome! i use it in my 07 nissan titan (made the switch at 9K miles) . Since I only put about 8K miles on it a year, i change my oil seasonally rather than by mileage, but most mobil 1 users go between 5,000 and 10,000 miles between oil changes. You dont want to wait that long only because your filter should be changed at least every 5,000 miles, unless you only change out the filter, and replace the oil you lost during the filter change (this might not be practical with the filter element on the RX350).
I also used mobil 1 on my 02 maxima before that and sold it when it had 90K miles, and the engine was perfect, ran like it did on day 1. i swear by the stuff!
In my opinion you get no performance change or improved gas mileage (some say you get a slight improvement), but you do get piece of mind on excellent wear protection for your engine.
edit:
one last note... buy your mobil 1 in 5 qt bottles at walmart, its selling right now for around $23, which is much cheaper than if you buy individual quarts.

Mobile 1 is a great product, but on Toyota engines.....it will work fine then on a cold morning when you start your engine, you will start to hear loud engine noise especially when you rev, the sounds goes away after the car is warm up and drove for a bit. This happens to both of my Scion tC and Avalon.

what youre describing sounds like a slipping belt, and has nothing to do with oil.

Have been using Mobil 1 in both of my vehicles since the 10K mile change, or 12 months from in service date. Works wonderful!! In fact I think the engine is somewhat quieter on cold starts. However, here in middle GA we did not get much cold weather this past winter. I don't think that you will disappointed in its use. Good luck!! By the way when I take the vehicle in for service I furnish my own oil, change the air and cabin filter myself, and check my own battery. Saves a bunch or $.

Consider Pennzoil Platinum synthetic. The oil gurus on bitog www.bobistheoilguy.com think it gives excellent UOAs, and many have questions about M1. It's cheaper also. M1 had a formulation change a few years ago, and they seem to be riding on past reputation rather than current performance.
After hearing about M1 issues I drained my vette's M1 out after 1000 miles and it looked like something from the LaBrea tar pits. I've been using PP ever since.
Should I put my fire retardant suit on now?
