Default 07 RX350 A-pillar interior trim removal

I attached my Valentine 1 radar detector to the back of my mirror and I want to run the wire across the top of the glass down the a-pillar and under the dash. Has anyone removed the a-pillar trim? Does it just pry off with some force? Do I have to be worried about the air bag curtains? Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks
Andy

I was going to take the A pillar cover off my 04 RX to try to stop a rattle. I finally got my hands on the repair manual diagrams for this and I changed my mind. Yes, there is an airbag behind the cover and extreme care is needed to avoid damaging the very expense air bag. I suspect it is the same for the 07. I'd suggest routing the wire in the seam formed by the A pillar and the windshield without taking the A pillar cover off. You might even be able to tuck it under the glass-side edge of the cover. Good luck whatever you choose to do.

Are you running a wire to install a concealed display? If it's just for power, why not tap into your rear view mirror for ACC power?

I agree, don't mess with the A-pillar cos it can effect the deployment of the side airbag.
tap your 12V source from the rearview mirror or dome light.

+1 on this solution, the last thing you need is to impede the airbag deployment or risk damaging the unit.

If you pull out at the top of the cover, it will POP out aprox. 1/2 inch like it is designed to do under deployment.the plastic tab that holds it in place will not allow further removal without destroying the clip so stop at that point. The airbag deployes toward the rear so run the wires down front .The hardest part is lining up the green plastic bullet clip about 1/3rd up from dash into tthe matching hole on cover. you have to blind feel it into place so relax and take your time.

Now that's pro advise! Take pics when you do it. Good DIY for the rest of us. Good luck and take your time.

Default Power

On my RX300 I picked up power for my XM Roady. By tapping in to the sunroof motor connector. I connected to the switched power line. I just had to remove the plastic sunglasses case.
