Chime & Remote Problem
I have a strange problem. Twice since we've owned it, my wife's car has failed to lock when we get out and press the lock button on the key. We checked all of the doors and the rear... all were shut tight.
Also, when we open the driver's door, the warning chime starts as if they key is in the ignition. Nobody is in the car, the lights are on Auto, and the key is (obviously) not in the ignition.
The first time it happened we were at home and going in for the night. I started the car then stopped it and the problem went away.
The second time we were at the mall, so I locked it manually before heading in. When we came out it still wouldn't respond to the remote. I unlocked manually again, opened the door (the chime was on), started it and drove home. It locked w/ the remote when we stopped at the house.
It's under warranty and I'd take it to Lexus, but I can't reliably reproduce the problem.
Anybody have this problem? Is it something I should be worried about? I know it sounds more like an inconvenience than a problem, but I don't want it to be indicative of a larger problem that might blow up on me later.
Thanks for any help!

Better to bring it in to teh dealer. Give it your best shot in describing the problem.

I thought about that, and I'll be replacing the battery as soon as I remember to open up the remote and see what kind it takes (anybody know?). Also, the remote has worked perfectly well except for these two times. We've had no problem locking/unlocking from a distance, operating the rear door, etc.
A dead battery in the remote can't explain the chiming problem, can it?
I'll be calling them today to see if I can describe it to somebody who might know what's going on. I just don't want to take it down there and get hit w/ a $75 fee for them to hook it up to a computer, though.
