Need drive cycles for 2004 RX330 Emission Test
Hey all,
just checking if anyone out there have the drive cycles for a 2004 RX330 AWD. Been laid up for a while with a dead battery, need to have the 'readiness monitors' working for emission inspection. Out of warranty.
thanks for help,
Roland

..I was told there are about 12 'readiness monitors' that store info from your everyday driving and those are used to determine whether the vehicle passes or fails the emission test, however, since the vehicle was laid up for a long time with a dead battery those monitors were reset.
Regular everyday driving for like a week is supposed to have them all ready for the inspection, but there is a specific set of cycles or driving patterns for each make/model that u can follow to speed this process up.

OBDII will report "not ready" after a reset. I was in for an inspection and the person ahead of me was told to come back in 4 days after normal driving.
The interesting thing is .. if the vehicle is not equipped with OBDII, then the inspection stations have to measure exhaust [low and high rpm] but if it is, then they are required to read off the OBDII.
There is a related anecdote about inspection .. if you vehicle does not have wiper motor it is OK, but if it is equipped with one, then it must be operable and wipers must be in good condition.
reminds me of computer check for key boards ... key board not found .. press any key to continue.

We have strict emissions ratings in CA and NY also has strict ones too.
My 2002 IS apparently is old enough for a smog test that I was required to get last year. That makes it only 6 years old. And the injustice is that you see tons of old diesel benzes out on the road polluting like hell when they accelerate
of course diesels and cars older than 1960 something are exempt from smog checks. that doesnt make any sense to me
