Default 07 RX 350, Any advice where to get Maintenance Sevice books or CDs?

Hi all,

I am new in the Forum. My wife has 07 Rx350 and I like to do some mainternace for the car.

Does any one know where I can get to books or CDs. Which one are the best? I hear it has 3 volumes, is this true?
.I like to stay away from dealer.

Thanks

Dealers are not too bad. The charge higher but also absorb some of the costs for the owners (there are good and bad stories). The parts can order one or all volumes for you .... but you did not want to go this way [I got my Vol II for '99 and like the art work and torques right on the page]. Some prefer non-Lexus books which I heard are lot cheaper.

Check which volume you can make use of and then keep an eye out for those on the net. You can also connect up to Toyota and get the information on line (pay for daily or annual cost). There may be copyrights issue regarding what is available on CDs.

I found this a while back but am not sure how reliable the source or the documentation is besides it being pricey:

Give Sewell Lexus a call or send them a parts inquiry asking for a quote: http://www.sewellpartsonline.com

The ClubLexus discount code for Sewell is on the "Sponsors" page of this forum -- currently it's "“CL911M”. I've bought quite a bit of stuff from Sewell -- great service and usually better prices than my local Lexus dealer.

I've purchased the Lexus repair manuals for both my previous 90 LS and current 00 LS. The manuals are useful but not necessary for doing routine maintenance. They have a number of diagnostic procedures but those sometimes take advanced skills and tools. The manuals sometimes do not provide the exact location of components. Still, the manuals are nice to have.

Salim's recomendation for the Toyota download is the best. I think the cost is $10 per day and you can download as much as you want for 24 hours. Do not know exactly the website....

It is like...toyotatechnicalinfo or something...

Ebay CD or something similar are not legit. The only way is to purchase the service manual, read your owner's manual, it tells you where to get it.

That's it!!!! Perfect. You can create an account and access as you need. All in all, it will require an investment. But an investment that is worth it. Thanks for the link, bagsbie!

You are welcome! I have it bookmarked, because I know I'd need it. I am not sure if it is in a "sticky" or a FAQ here. If it isn't, it probably should be.

Somebody I know logged in and paid for a day ($10), downloaded the whole manual.

Do not know how much time he spent, all I know is that he must have a nice computer set up and fast internet access. Would have taken at least 8 hours.

They aren't legit in the sense that they are pirated materials, but you get the data you need for 20 bucks or so.... And talking on the lines of legitimacy I am sure it is a violation of the terms of service of the TIS site to go and download all the data for your car and save it for later use.

jaok .... I am no authority on this issue, but if some one downloads the whole manual and then turns around and sells it, it would not be right.

This forum has always recommended the purchase of service manuals from legitimate sources.
