Hi guys,
Have a question on power rear door on 2005 RX. On the other day when the temperature hits 104F, I couldn't close my rear door by pushing the button. he door goes down for about 1 sec but then it's going back up again. I only can close it by using the remote. Is it normal? Have this occurred to you?
Thanks

Did you try to close it multiple times with the door button? Maybe the heat caused the pressure in the strut to be high enough to activate the re-open safety feature.

There are 2 buttons, one in the front and one in the tail gate. Which one are you referring to? The one on the tail gate?

I've had problem lately where the door doesn't open. Must a driver repeat using the keyfob several times? On one occasion, I did try twice with no luck. Is this normal? Each time this was done, the vehicle was on a level ground.

Maybe you should check if your battery is low on the remote. Have you tried using the buttons on the car?

Battery on remote should be good as it was replaced last Oct. No, didn't try the button in he car as I was carrying stuff in my hands and walking toward the RX and wanted to open the hatch w/o putting the stuff down on the ground. Isn't that the whole purpose of having the button on the remote to open the hatch when returning to your vehicle with packages in hands?

I think you are wasting your money replacing every year, why not just buy one replacement and replace the battery when it dies?

You may not believe it but my 1999 Grand Prix remote has the original battery in the remote and it still works perfectly. I have over 160,000 miles on the car so it gets used alot. I even had it in a plastic baggie while tubing down the river. Needless to say the bag leaked and it was submerged in water for 3-4 hours. I couldn't believe it still worked.
