Have a 2004 330 with NAV. wife came home and said that the AC light was blinking on the screen. I listened and the compressor was off and light was blinking. I shut the car off let sit for a few, started again and it (AC compressor) came on fine. It does not make noise but I can hear it when compressor engages.
It was a wet, rainy, hot, humid day, if that matters.
What does the blinking light mean?

Found out it is probably a worn drive belt. There are 2 belts.
PS and AC. Might as well replace them both.
How hard are they to replace.
Any special torque wrenches needed?
Easy to get to?

If drive over a puddle and the splash comes up, the AC light starts blinking and if every thing is fine, the next time you start, the blinky will go away.
If you do need new belts read on:
For 300, the alternator moves and the PS pump moves to get the slack and then tighten the belt. The pivot lock on the PS pump needs special tool .. but you can leave it alone as you can develop enough force to move it.
The belt needs to be tensioned properly ... too loose and it will slip. Too tight and it will ruin the bearings. Some people use the twist the belt method. Right tool is belt tension gauge. Search and you will find discussion on this issue with proper tension for new belt and after couple of hrs use.

Searched the old threads and found answers to this
It seems it is a common problem with The design of the 330 and location of the AC belt. There is a sensor that clocks the revolutions of the compressor and if it slows down due to slippage it shuts off the Compressor to prevent damage.
Have tomove to the desert!
