Do you guy`s (and Gals) go untill your maint.required light or 5,000 miles on conventional oil? I am using Pennzoil yellow bottle 5W-30 and I`ll go until the maint.required light comes on.I was just curious if you guy`s were doing this oci (oil change interval) on conventional oil.I realize Synthetic oil`s are starting to draw attention, but really arent necessary on the 3MZ-FE.

lexus114, I usually hit the dealer long before the maintenance light comes on. It's only happened once in 6 years and I was a few days away from my appointment.
I have to confess, every time I read posts like this, I feel guilty. I gave up working on my car when I bought my first Lexus. I'll do very minor stuff but I'll leave the rest for the dealer. And I love my dealer. I guess I'm in the minority

If it makes you happy, that's the key! Love is a 2 way street, I guarantee your dealer will take care of you.

Pennzoil Platinum every 7,500 miles or 6 months which ever comes up first.
FWIW, Pennzoil Platinum is a 100% synthetic. It's selling for around $20 for a 5qt. jug at WalMart. Pennzoil has a $15 rebate going through November so your net cost is $1 a quart.

Well I guess my real question is,is it safe to go 5k on conventional oil? I know Johnny over on bitog told me it will with no problems. So I`m taking his advice.

Well, you`all convinced me.I switched back to Mobil-1 0W-30.It does seem like it`s peppier too.The main reason is because I want to do the 5k changes with out being concerned at all about it.(plus my 01 1MZ-FE sludger still in my mind) I know this motor isnt supposed to have this issue any more, but I feel better anyway.

There you go! Synthetic will offer better protection. With the prices going down, I have switched to synthetics. Depending on the car, too.
