Oh Dear God, It has finally happened: Tranny Issues
Well after 5 + years of ownership, and after ECU reflash after reflash, and after complaining about hesitations and jerks from the transmission, something is now seriously wrong. Really the inevitable though.
Everytime the car changes gear of 2nd to 3rd gear, it is not smooth. And I mean everytime, not just during cold starts. What happens is that it seems to upshift, but then changes its mind back to 2nd, and then it results in a highly noticable jerk of the vehicle until it decides to finally upshift. This is much like the transmission flare on the early ES350s. this started yesterday and as you can imagine it is very unerving. the entire car jerks forwards, and all passengers feel it.
All I can say is that I better get rid of the car soon cause this tranny is going fast.

102,000 miles with no warranty. I dont suppose they would change my transmission under goodwill, haha
also, I go to lexus every 5,000 and they do the suggested service intervals. I assume it includes maitenance on the transmission. So this is just a heads up for those who are reaching the high mileage

Well that 2010 Rx is looking mighty fine! Get it!

I would have to take the opposite view in this matter. Rather than looking at another RX I would see about finding a way of sending a message to Lexus that their quality control issues of late will not be tolerated by considering other options and let them know you are looking at choices other than Lexus. They obviously have not been listening.

Haha, funny thing is I have been looking into the new RX and hope to one day get into the 450h, which I know wont have any tranny problems I have been getting because it has a CVT. lol
as for the transmission fluid...uhh...
Lexus has it on their website that they change it every 60 thousand miles...so that means it has been changed once...hopefully

If you have had this issue with rough shifting for a period of time I have to assume when you took it in for service the issue still remained. In the future I would not assume anything and when issues arrise, make sure the service manager is aware so the problem can be nipped in the bud so to speak before it gets worse. Just my TCW.

every RX330 owner knows what I am talking about when it comes to a bad transmission on this car. Yes, I have experienced this rough shifting before, throughout all 5 years, but it usually happens maybe 3 times a week of even. Then there is the hesitation where even when my foot is on the pedal, there is no reaction from the transmission and engine for at least 2 seconds (slow to respond).
I am just worried now that it happens at every aceleration, 2nd to 3rd gear

No, I don't play soccer!
RXSF, did you have the TSB done for the shifting issue? Apologies if I missed it somewhere in another thread. I'm sure you did. The reason I ask is because I had it done recently and am wondering if the trans issue could possibly resurface. So far so good.

Ive had it done twice. the first time I got the TSB done, it was even worse than before. The SA told me to have it done again, and to not switche drivers for a week so that it can get accustomed to one driver instead of two driving habbits. Got it done a second time. Ill be honest, I did feel any difference between the original programming and the second.
Im thinking that right now, its not a programming issue, but mechanical
